Neal McDonough Excited about Angel Studios Partnership: ‘It’s for God’s Glory’

The actor known for his roles in Band of Brothers and Captain America: The First Avenger says he wants to make family-friendly entertainment that glorifies God.

Neal McDonough, who also has starred in The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and The 100, has major roles in an upcoming Angel Studios science fiction film, The Shift and in another Angel project, the dystopian title Homestead, which is based on the best-selling book series Black Autumn.

McDonough recently addressed Angel supporters at Illuminate, Angel’s annual event.

“What you are doing is creating a place where our families can watch television and films for years to come knowing that it’s for God’s glory,” McDonough told Angel fans.

Angel Studios, he said, is filling a void in the entertainment market for families. The company is best known for launching The Chosen and is producing more than 20 new projects, including Homestead.

“We have five kids, Ruve and I,” McDonough said. “How many times do you get to turn on any network or any streaming service and have zero fear about what your kids are about to see? That’s Angel, and that’s because of you guys.”

Ruve is a producer.

“We’re going to be here for a long time making great stuff for you all,” he said.

McDonough and Ruve are known as one of the more family-focused couples in Hollywood. He told Christian Headlines it’s essential to have the right priorities in order for a marriage to work.

“I always say I can go through life with one hand tied behind my back as long as the other hand is being held in front and led by Ruve’s hand,” he told Christian Headlines. “So it’s God first, me second – family first, me second. And that puts everything into perspective. And it’s working for us.”

Ruve told Christians Headlines that communication is key.

“Neal and I are very, very blessed,” she said.
