NYC Professor Who Crused Out Pro-Life Student Volunteers Is Fired for Threatening a Reporter with a Knife
A New York college professor has been fired after she threatened to “chop” up a New York Post reporter who went to her apartment to talk about a viral video of her shouting obscenities at student volunteers working at a pro-life display.
As Christian Headlines previously reported, Shellyne Rodriguez, who worked as an art professor at Hunter College in Manhattan, made headlines earlier this week when she confronted students at a pro-life display table on campus.
“You’re not educating s–t. This is f–king propaganda,” she said on May 2. “What are you going to do like anti-trans next?
“This is bull—-, this is violent,” Rodriguez said. “You’re triggering my students,” she added.
This week, a New York Post reporter and photographer tried to visit Rodriguez at her home, but Rodriguez answered the door with a machete blade that she held up to the reporter’s neck, The Christian Post reports.
According to the New York Post, Rodriguez told the reporter and photographer to “Get… away from my door, or I’m going to chop you up with this machete.”
She demanded they leave and slammed the door, but later photos showed she took the machete out into the street to follow the reporters.
The New York City Police Department is investigating the incident.
The New York Post says the reporter and photographer are unharmed.
Hunter College spokesperson Vince Dimiceli told BBC News that “Hunter College strongly condemns the unacceptable actions of Shellyne Rodriguez and has taken immediate action.
“Rodriguez has been relieved of her duties at Hunter College effective immediately, and will not be returning to teach at the school.”
Students for Life President Kristen Hawkins also released a statement about the string of events this week. The pro-life display Rodriguez targeted was a Students for Life display table.
“When professors don’t respect their students and their rights, schools become unsafe,” she said. “Students should be taught how to peacefully exchange ideas with each other and professional staff.”
