House Republican trying to expel Schiff wants him to pay $16 million fine for collusion claims; Florida Rep. Anna Luna files motion to fine Schiff $16M for ‘Russiagate lies’
House Republican trying to expel Schiff wants him to pay $16 million fine for collusion claims:
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) should pay millions for pursuing the now-discredited theory that former President Donald Trump colluded with Russia ahead of the 2016 presidential election, according to a House Republican.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) filed a privileged resolution on Tuesday afternoon to “censure, condemn, and fine” Schiff $16 million, which is half the cost of the special counsel investigation of Russian election inference led by Robert Mueller. Schiff led a similar investigation during his time as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.
“I just filed a privileged resolution, H. Res. 437, to censure, condemn, and fine Rep. Adam Schiff $16 million (1/2 the cost of Russia investigation) for his egregious abuse of trust,” Luna tweeted. “I, with my GOP colleagues, look forward to an imminent vote to hold this feckless man accountable.”
Luna filed a motion on May 17 to expel Schiff after the Durham report cast doubt on whether the FBI should have investigated connections between Trump and Russia. Many Republicans have deemed the investigation into Trump a political stunt and “weaponization” of the federal government.
Schiff has been a longtime target of the Republican caucus due to the role he played in Trump’s impeachment and in the investigation into whether Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election —>READ MORE HERE
Florida Rep. Anna Luna files motion to fine Schiff $16M for ‘Russiagate lies’:
Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has filed a privileged resolution to censure, condemn and impose a $16 million fine on Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) for allegedly lying to the American public during the Russiagate investigation.
The Florida congresswoman introduced the resolution Tuesday, which was immediately referred to the House Ethics Committee. No co-sponsors were listed for H.Res.437.
“It is the obligation of House Leadership to back up this motion for the American people and hold this feckless man accountable,” Luna said in a statement.
“This is a privileged resolution and it is the right thing for House Leadership to support and bring accountability and respect back to the House of Representatives. ALL Members of Congress must be held to this standard.”
Schiff responded Tuesday that “MAGA extremists just filed a motion to censure and fine me $16 million because I stood up to Donald Trump and his allies.”
“They’re 8 days away from defaulting on our debt, but Speaker McCarthy and his MAGA allies would rather try to silence me,” he said on Twitter. “But I’m not backing down. Ever.” —>READ MORE HERE
