Brandon Lake Wins 3 K-Love Fan Awards: ‘God Can Use Anyone’
Brandon Lake led with three wins and For King & Country took home honors for Artist of the Year during the 10th Annual K-Love Fan Awards, which aired on TBN Friday.
Lake won Male Artist of the Year, Worship Song of the Year (Gratitude) and Song of the Year (Gratitude), while For King & Country won Artist of the Year and MercyMe won Group of the Year. Lauren Daigle took home Female Artist of the Year. CAIN hosted the show.
Gratitude, Lake said, is a “powerful weapon” for the Christian.
“I have so much to be grateful for,” Lake told Christian Headlines and other media members after the show. “… The song has been a reminder that God can use anyone and he can use anything. That song almost didn’t make my record. And [it] wasn’t a single, wasn’t a highlighted track.”
The song, he said, has “reminded me that God will use the least likely person and the least likely song to change other people’s lives.”
The wives of For King & Country’s Joel and Luke Smallbone accepted the award, with the group in Canada on tour.
Moriah Smallbone, the wife of Joel Smallbone, said she travels with Joel “a lot.”
“The biggest challenge is just lining up the calendars,” she said. “But we will cross oceans, and we will take trains and planes and Ubers and do whatever we need to to be together.”
Said Courtney Smallbone, Luke’s wife, “We’ve had great adventures.”
Bart Millard said he and his bandmates are “still best friends.” The group released its first album in the 1990s.
“We still love what we’re doing,” he said after the show. “There’s no explanation other than God in this because it makes zero sense that we’re making music 30 years later. … We never in a million years thought we’d be still doing this.”
