Demi Lovato’s Pronoun Retreat Is A Warning To Her Fans

Demi Lovato’s identity crisis has left her “exhausted.”

Two years after the singer announced her new pronouns were “they/them,” Lovato, who has been a celebrity since her teens, has gone back to accepting her true sex with “she/her.”

“I constantly had to educate people and explain why I identified with those pronouns. It was absolutely exhausting,” Lovato told GQ Hype Spain. “And that is one of the reasons that has led me to also feel comfortable with the feminine pronouns. I just got tired.”

In other words, she went through a phase in her 30s. She was into something, into it enough to allow it to define her for 24 months, and then decided to change her mind at the flip of a switch. If a grown-up woman can change her mind on something so major that quickly, then just imagine how quickly a gullible child or anxious teen can.

Lovato fell into a trap that has taken an increasing number of Americans as victims. Having grown up in Hollywood fame, Lovato’s far-left influences led her down a pipeline of confusion. Suffering from myriad mental disorders, Lovato found herself obsessed with so-called gender identity to explain her own crises.

One study showed nearly 60 percent of people identifying as “non-binary” reported having at least a single mental health disorder. Lovato, who identified as such, admitted just last month she suffered from several.

In an interview at the Hollywood and Mind Summit in May, the former Disney child star went into detail about her own mental issues. Lovato told NBC News’ Savannah Sellers about how she’s struggled with many mental disorders ranging from anxiety and depression to addiction — to the point where she described herself as having a “checklist” of psychiatric abnormalities.

“I just kind of knock them all off,” she said, “since I was very young.”

The unfortunate reality is that unlike Lovato, who appears simply to have adopted plural pronouns for a couple of years, more and more Americans who claim to be “non-binary” are seeking irreversible and devastating medical interventions. More and more Americans are also regretting them. The Independent Women’s Forum is chronicling the stories of detransitioners here.

But as many of Lovato’s fans are falling into the trap of transgenderism, her own experience should be a warning.

Lovato’s experience is a textbook case of transgenderism as a social contagion. Dissatisfied people, often seeking community and struggling with real mental pain, obsess over the validation they find in a newfound “gender.”

Lovato even admitted at the Hollywood and Mind Summit that her issues ran so deep, she succumbed to routine suicidal ideation. Data shows that had she moved forward with any type of sex-denying medical procedures, she might have been at higher risk.

report last summer from the conservative Heritage Foundation found that “easing access to cross-sex treatments without parental consent significantly increases suicide rates.”

Another major long-term study out of Sweden showed people who underwent transgender surgery were 19 times more likely to die by suicide than the general population.

Despite the data, leftists are going to war to allow children to pursue permanent transgender medical interventions. Laws passed by Republican legislatures to protect kids from this pursuit have provoked far-left insurrections and other demonstrations at state capitols, including in Tennessee, Montana, Kansas, Kentucky, Florida, Oklahoma, and Missouri.

In California, left-wing lawmakers went as far as drafting legislation that would charge parents with “child abuse” if they don’t “affirm” a child’s trans ideations. Apparently, children who can hardly pick out what to wear during the day should be able to pick their pronouns, whether they ever want children of their own, whether they want to stunt their sexual growth and function and alter their vocal range, and whether they want to amputate healthy body parts.

One California senator was blunt in his assessment of the new law. “If you love your children, you need to flee California. You need to flee,” said Republican state Sen. Scott Wilk, who promised to leave the state himself when his legislative term expires.

Contrary to the left’s proclamations that “transgender rights” are on the “right side of history,” recent polling suggests otherwise. New Gallup poll data this week reveals that support for transgenderism is cratering.
