Jesus' Coming Back

Katy Nichole Says Her Hit Single ‘Carries Something That Is Not from Me’

Breakout Christian artist Katy Nichole recently shared the story behind her hit single “In Jesus Name (God of Possible)” on the Candace Cameron Bure podcast.

Last week, Nichole helped Bure kick off the third season of her podcast. Nichole is serving as Bure’s co-host this season for a “summer song series,” where the pair will discuss the inspiration behind each of the songs on Nichole’s debut album, Jesus Changed My Life.

According to ChurchLeaders.com, “In Jesus Name (God of Possible)” launched Nichole into the contemporary Christian music scene.

During her first appearance on Bure’s podcast, Nichole revealed that she prayed over a video of herself singing the song’s chorus before the clip went viral. She noted that it was her first time praying over any of her videos.

Nichole also told Bure that the song is significant because it “carries something that is not from me.”

“Contemporary Christian and worship is my favorite. That’s what I listen to,” Bure said. She added that she appreciates “uplifting” lyrics that center on who God is and the “goodness in life.”

“I’m so grateful that I get to create music that has an encouraging, uplifting message so that someone can be given hope throughout their day,” Nichole said. “This is my heart. This is the expression of my relationship with God.”

Bure, who has three children around Nichole’s age, told the singer, “As a momma, I’m very, very proud of you” and that seeing her use her talent to honor God “makes my momma heart want to cry.”

Nichole shared that she wrote the song, originally titled “God of Possible,” while sitting at a piano in Nashville while having a panic attack. During a meeting the next day, a writer helping Nichole with the song told her, “There’s just so much power in prayer. What if we prayed over people? What if we turned this song into something that people felt like they were being prayed for?”

The chorus, which states, “I pray for your healing, that circumstances will change / I pray that the fear inside would flee in Jesus’ name,” is “the only portion of that song that is still standing today” and was originally part of the song’s bridge before it ultimately became the chorus.

The clip of her singing the song’s chorus went viral gaining 80 million impressions, and ultimately helped her launch her music career last year. The song has since become certified platinum and spent 20 weeks in the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart and nine weeks on Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart.

It was also nominated for a GMA Dove Award in 2022 and won Worship Song of the Year at the 2022 K-LOVE Fan Awards. During the 2022 American Music Award, Nicole was nominated as Favorite Inspirational Artist.
