Three killed in multiple violent incidences in Israel, West Bank during Shabbat

Three people were killed in multiple violent incidences between Friday night and Saturday morning in both the West Bank and Israel.

Kosai Ma’atan, a 19-year-old Palestinian, was shot dead by Israeli settlers on Friday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The shooting occurred after clashes erupted between Palestinians in the village of Bukhara, near Ramallah, and Israeli settlers from the Oz Zion outpost, according to Israeli media.

Reports regarding the event suspect that the settlers went from the outpost to the village where verbal and physical tensions escalated to where a shot was fired.

Israel Police arrived at the scene and are currently investigating the incident alongside IDF personnel. Two Israeli settlers were arrested as a result and another five have been detained by police on Saturday morning.

Security forces in the West Bank are reportedly preparing for the possibility for future violent attacks inspired by the incident in Bukhara.

A video posted by Walla reportedly shows an “attempted lynching” where Israelis in a vehicle were attacked by Palestinians in the Ramallah area. The footage shows Palestinians attacking the car which, later in the video, appears to have been set ablaze.

Death in Herzliya

The same night, a 46-year-old man was shot dead in an apartment in Herzliya. He was pronounced dead by medical officials when they arrived on the scene.

Police are investigating the circumstances behind the death.

Incident in Shuafat

Israel Police received a report the same night of four residents of Shuafat in eastern Jerusalem with serious injuries at the nearby refugee camp. One of the injured, a 22-year-old man who was stabbed, died of his wounds, and the other three were evacuated to receive medical treatment, according to a police spokesperson.

Police arrived at the refugee camp where they began investigating the murder of the Shuafat resident and are searching for suspects. Initial conclusions of the investigation believe that the background of the incident was criminal. One suspect was arrested in connection to the murder.
