IDF shoots, wounds masked Jewish stone thrower in West Bank
The IDF shot and wounded a masked Jewish stone thrower in the West Bank on Sunday morning, as its forces braced for revenge attacks against Palestinians in the aftermath of the Huwara terror attack in which two Israelis were killed.
Soldiers “were dispatched to a point where there were a number of masked suspects, in the area above” the Ma’aleh Levona settlement, the IDF said.
It did not know when it shot at the suspects if they were Israelis or Palestinians.
“The troops carried out a procedure for arresting a suspect, as part of which one of the suspects was injured.
“It later turned out that the suspects were masked Israeli citizens. The incident is being investigated and its details are under review,” the IDF said.
It added that the incident is under investigation.
IDF activity overnight in the West Bank
Israeli security forces were active throughout the West Bank on Saturday night in search of the still-at-large terrorist shooter who killed Silas (Shai) Nigerker, 60, and his son Aviad Nir, 28 from Ashdod.
During this activity, Israeli forces stationed between Tapuah junction and Huwara confiscated several improvised weapons and bullets from the driver of a “suspicious vehicle.” In Hebron, they confiscated a knife. In Tulkarm, local residents shot at Israeli forces and threw explosives at them. IDF soldiers returned fire and reported one injury. There were no casualties to Israeli forces.
