Sound of Freedom Movie Subject Tim Ballard Is Accused of Sexual Misconduct
Tim Ballard, the former Homeland Security agent known for his work against human trafficking, has been accused of sexual misconduct.
According to an investigation by Vice News, Ballard reportedly left the Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.) organization earlier this year amid an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct involving seven women. According to the investigation, Ballard invited women to pretend they were his wife on overseas missions focused on rescuing sex trafficking victims. He then allegedly forced them to share a bed or shower with him in an apparent attempt to deceive traffickers.
Ballard has denied all of the allegations brought against him.
“As with all of the assaults on my character and integrity over many years, the latest tabloid-driven sexual allegations are false,” Ballard said in a statement. “They are baseless inventions designed to destroy me and the movement we have built to end the trafficking and exploitation of vulnerable children.”
The real-life story of Ballard’s work against sex trafficking was featured in the breakout hit film Sound of Freedom, produced by Angel Studios and starring Passion of the Christ actor Jim Caviezel.
O.U.R. also issued a statement confirming that an investigation had occurred, but they did not mention Ballard by name.
“O.U. R. is dedicated to combatting sexual abuse, and does not tolerate sexual harassment or discrimination by anyone in its organization,” the statement said. “O.U.R. retained an independent law firm to conduct a comprehensive investigation of all relevant allegations, and O.U.R. continues to assess and improve the organization’s governance and protocols for its operations.
“To preserve the integrity of its investigation and to protect the privacy of all persons involved, O.U.R. will not make any further public comment at this time,” the statement asserted.
The O.U.R. also confirmed that “Tim Ballard resigned from O.U.R. on June 22, 2023. He has permanently separated from O.U.R. “Ballard, who founded O.U.R. in 2013, asserted that sexual contact was prohibited within the organization.”
“During my time at O.U.R., I designed strict guidelines for myself and our operators in the field. Sexual contact was prohibited, and I led by example,” Ballard said in his statement. “Given our meticulous attention to this issue, any suggestion of inappropriate sexual contact is categorically false.”
