Republicans Set First Biden Impeachment Probe Hearing for Next Week; GOP to Hold First Impeachment Hearing Next Week, Subpoena Hunter Biden Bank Records; Biden Impeachment Probe Supported by Almost Half of Voters

Republicans set first Biden impeachment probe hearing for next week:

House Republicans will hold their first public hearing in the impeachment inquiry into President Biden on Thursday, Sept. 28.

A spokesperson for the House Oversight Committee told The Post Tuesday the hearing would focus on “constitutional and legal questions surrounding the president’s involvement in corruption and abuse of public office.”

Ahead of the hearing, the panel led by Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) plans to subpoena the bank records of first son Hunter Biden and first brother James Biden, whose overseas business interests are at the center of the impeachment inquiry announced by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) last week.

The subpoenas are meant to determine whether funds from countries such as China and Ukraine flowed to Joe Biden and could trigger a lengthy court fight over Congress’ right to the information.

“The Oversight Committee will continue to follow the evidence and money trail to provide the transparency and accountability that Americans demand from their government,” the spokesperson said. —>READ MORE HERE

GOP to hold first impeachment hearing next week, subpoena Hunter Biden bank records:

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee will hold its first hearing on the impeachment inquiry into President Biden on Sept. 28, also announcing plans to subpoena the bank records of his son, Hunter Biden, as soon as this week.

“The hearing will focus on constitutional and legal questions surrounding the President’s involvement in corruption and abuse of public office,” a House Oversight spokesperson said in a statement.

When asked if the hearing would reveal new evidence, committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) said the hearing is not expected to cover new ground and took a dig at the media.

“Well, I think that some of you need to have a refresher course on the existing evidence, so we’ll probably rehash some of that if for no other purpose to help educate the Washington, D.C., press corps,” he said.

While Comer has said he believes President Biden accepted a bribe as part of his dealings in Ukraine as vice president, the GOP has yet to find a smoking gun to back those claims. —>READ MORE HERE
