Trump Says Bowman Pulling Fire Alarm ‘may have been worse’ than Jan. 6; Democrat Jamaal Bowman Faces Investigation, Expulsion after Pulling Fire Alarm before Vote

Trump says Bowman pulling fire alarm ‘may have been worse’ than Jan. 6:

Former President Donald Trump said Rep. Jamaal Bowman’s (D-NY) act of pulling the fire alarm during House proceedings “may have been worse” than the actions of rioters on Jan. 6, 2021.

Trump asked, “when will [Bowman’s] trial begin” and said he should “suffer their same fate,” referring to the many trials of Jan. 6 protesters for rioting at the U.S. Capitol following Trump’s loss in the 2020 election.

“Will Congressman [Jamaal] Bowman be prosecuted and imprisoned for very dangerously pulling and setting off the main fire alarm system in order to stop a Congressional vote that was going on in D.C. His egregious act is covered on tape, a horrible display of nerve and criminality,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social Sunday. “It was a very dangerous ‘Obstruction of an Official Proceeding,’ the same as used against our J-6 prisoners. Actually, his act may have been worse.”

Bowman was caught on security footage pulling a fire alarm in the Cannon House Office Building as Democrats looked to stall a vote on the clean continuing resolution put on the floor by Republicans.

The New Jersey representative has denied that it was intentional, stating that he was rushing to make a vote and thought the “alarm would open a door.” The United States Capitol Police is investigating the situation. —>READ MORE HERE

Democrat Jamaal Bowman Faces Investigation, Expulsion after Pulling Fire Alarm before Vote:

Representative Jamaal Bowman (D., N.Y.) is under threat of investigation and expulsion, after he pulled a fire alarm in a House office building in the lead up to a contentious vote.

Bowman pulled a fire alarm on the second floor of the Cannon House Office Building on Saturday, just before the House was set for a tumultuous vote on the stopgap spending bill. The bill passed the House on Saturday, narrowly avoiding a government shutdown. The building was evacuated after Bowman activated the alarm.

Although Bowman said he was just “rushing to make an urgent vote, and “did not realize he would trigger a building alarm,” Republicans speculate that Bowman intentionally pulled the alarm to delay the vote.

Nicole Malliotakis (R., N.Y.) issued a resolution for Bowman’s expulsion from Congress, saying, “This is the United States Congress, not a New York City high school.” Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) said the House Ethics Committee should investigate the incident, and the House Administration Committee Republicans said Saturday that an investigation was already underway. The Capitol Police are also investigating the incident.

If Bowman pulled the fire alarm to disrupt House voting procedure, Bryan Steil (R., Wis.) said, it would be a “serious violation of the law.” Marjorie Taylor Greene (R., Ga.) called on the Department of Justice to prosecute Bowman “using the same law they used to prosecute [January 6] defendants for interfering with an official proceeding,” adding that, “The Democrats literally will do anything to shut our government down.” —>READ MORE HERE
