Veteran Actress Is Fired from Series for Her Vocal Pro-Israel Views
A well-known voice actress says she was booted from a new animated series because of her vocal support for Israel in its ongoing war with Hamas.
Tara Strong is an Emmy-nominated voice actress known for her roles in Teen Titans Go!, My Little Pony: The Movie and The Powerpuff Girls, and had a role in the new independent animated series Boxtown until she voiced her support for Israel on social media. Strong is Jewish.
Strong said she learned on social media she was being dropped from the project.
“Just found out on Twitter!” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “This is what happens when you help fans get shows made I guess. Fired for being Jewish. Glad I helped you get your Kickstarter money. Please lose my email address & pray for my family in Israel and in Gaza. & #prayforpeace.”
Strong’s post was in response to one from the series’ official Twitter account that announced, “We will be recasting the role of Bill (previously played by Tara Strong).”
“We’ll have more info soon on open auditions,” the post said. “Thanks for y’all’s understanding as we re-orient and figure out the next steps.”
The series’ official page said it has other cast and crew members who are Jewish and that Strong’s dismissal was due to her “recent online activity, including posts that promote controversial messages regarding the peoples of Palestine currently being affected by the ongoing Israel-Palestine crisis.”
“Our hearts are with the Palestinian and Israeli children and families being affected by the ongoing conflict. People should be able to live freely without being threatened by constant abuse and terror. We are hoping for the best,” the series’ official account said.
Strong’s social media pages are filled with statements in support of Israel. They also contain the Israeli flag.
She countered she was fired for not remaining silent. She also pushed back on criticism that she opposes Islam.
“I’m speaking about the terrorist org HAMAS,” she wrote. “We should all be against them.”
Before she was fired, she wrote, “For those who support the actions of #Hamas; when they infiltrate your hometown, on your soil, break into Jewish homes, raping, beheading innocent babies, will you applaud them? Will you wave their flag while they slaughter Christians & Muslims who don’t believe their ideologies?”
