Democratic Voters Have ‘Dramatically’ Increased Their Support for Israel, Polls Show

Israel has bipartisan support from American voters according to a series of new polls that found both Democrats and Republicans back Israel and want the U.S. to send the Middle Eastern ally military equipment for its war against the terrorist group Hamas.

A Quinnipiac survey found that 76 percent of Democrats and 84 percent of Republicans believe “supporting Israel is in the national interest of the United States.” Only 17 percent of Democrats and 12 percent of Republicans say it is not.

A solid majority of Democrats (59 percent) and Republicans (79 percent) favor sending weapons and military equipment to Israel in response to the Hamas terrorist attack.

A majority of Democrats (66 percent) and Republicans (85 percent) also say Hamas is more responsible than Israel for the “outbreak of violence in the Middle East.”

Meanwhile, voters of both parties are concerned that the situation will escalate, with 53 percent of Democrats and 54 percent of Republicans saying they are “very concerned” that the “war between Israel and Hamas will escalate into a wider war in the Middle East.”

A FoxNews survey also found bipartisan support for Israel. That poll found that 59 percent of Democratic voters and 79 percent of GOP voters say they side more with the Israelis than the Palestinians in what the survey described as the “Middle East conflict.” All total, 68 percent of Americans side with the Israelis in the FoxNews poll — an increase from 59 percent in 2001.

“The main reason for the overall increase in support for Israel is Democrats have dramatically changed their position,” said Republican Daron Shaw, who conducted the survey with Democrat Chris Anderson. “They’ve moved from +7 Israel to +34, which undoubtedly reflects revulsion over the nature of the attacks.”

More than 1,000 Israelis were killed and 100-plus taken hostage during Hamas’ Oct. 7 invasion of Israel.
