Veteran IDF Officer Warns: ‘This Is the End of Israel’ if Hamas and Hezbollah Aren’t Defeated

A veteran of Israeli military intelligence who also served as a mayor of an Israeli town is warning that the coming months and years could see the “end of Israel” if the enemies of that nation, including Hamas and Hezbollah, are not destroyed.

Sivan Yechieli was an IDF infantry and reconnaissance officer for more than ten years and also was the mayor for a decade of an Israeli community, Kfar-Vradim, near the border with Lebanon. He is a fellow of the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism.

If Israel’s enemies are not vanquished, Yechieli said, “this is the end of Israel.”

“Simple as that.”

He made his comments to journalist Joel Rosenberg for TBN’s The Rosenberg Report

“You know, Christians talk about the end of times. I don’t know — we might be at the end of times,” Yechieli said. “… We have to win this war. We don’t have any other option. If we do not win this war, south, north, Iran — it’s the end of times. Simple as that.”

The covenant between the Israeli people and the army was broken during Hamas’ invasion on Oct. 7, he said.

“The Israeli public has a trust issue with the army now,” he said.

“And if the army will deliver, which I know it can, [then] it’s another ballgame,” he said.

Yechieli suggested “attacking the Iranian nuclear plan, destroying Hezbollah, destroying Hamas. In that order.” Hezbollah is a militant group and political party within Lebanon, to Israel’s north.

“No one can go back home in the north before Hezbollah is done, no one will go back home in surrounding Gaza before Hamas is done,” he suggested.

Yechieli described the war as one between “darkness” and “light.”

“This threat has to be removed. Otherwise, I don’t see how communities will be able to live along the border,” he said. “… We’re supposed to be the strongest nation in this region. We have to take action. … We have to make sure that this kind of event cannot happen again.”

Rosenberg described the interview as the “most sobering conversation” that “I’ve ever had with an Israeli since I first came here to study at Tel Aviv University some 36 years ago.”

“The experts I spoke to say that Israel must hit Iran and Hezbollah first, hard, and relentlessly, or they believe that every Israeli in the Galilee and the northern tier will soon be slaughtered like Israelis on the Gaza border were on Oct. 7,” Rosenberg wrote at AllIsrael.com.
