Two injured after plummeting from 30-foot border wall as San Diego grapples with migrant influx
Two people were injured after falling off a 30-foot-tall section of the border wall between San Diego and Mexico, just the latest incident as the California county deals with an influx of more than 200,000 migrants so far this year.
A pair trying to sneak into the US Sunday morning instead plummeted 30 feet to the ground near Border Field State Park, CBS 8 reports.
Ambulances were called to the scene, with the two taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Customs and Border Protection agents did not comment on their condition or if any other migrants fell or were caught trespassing in the area.
Such incidents have become more commonplace along the border, with a migrant falling to her death last month at another part of the San Diego border wall just 13 miles away.
The woman, who was not publicly identified, was found dead near the Otay Mesa Port of Entry when she failed to climb the 30-foot fence. —>READ MORE HERE
Number of migrants hospitalized after falling from the border wall has skyrocketed 1,000 PERCENT under Joe Biden with over 400 climbers injured in San Diego alone:
The number of migrants falling from the border wall and being hospitalized with serious injuries has spiraled by 1,000 percent since Joe Biden took office, figures seen by Dailymail.com show.
Hundreds of wall climbers – half of them women – have been admitted to a San Diego hospital a few miles from the border with injuries including shattered legs and ankles, and traumatic brain injuries.
Doctors put the astonishing rise down to the sheer volume of people now attempting to get over the wall.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection does not keep figures for how many migrants are found injured near the base of the structure and taken to hospital.
But at Scripps Mercy Hospital, a few miles north of Tijuana, Mexico, there has been a surge in admissions.
Between 2016 and 2020 it was not uncommon to have a month with no border wall fallers thee. In 2020 there were a a total of just 34.
But the the numbers started ton rise dramatically at the beginning of 2021 when Biden took office.
By September last year it reached 55 in a month, and the total number of seriously injured fallers taken to the hospital in 2022 was 239.
Across San Diego County – which has two trauma centers for border wall fallers – the annual number of serious injuries has risen from about 40 to 400 – a 1,000 percent increase.
‘We certainly haven’t seen anything like this and I’ve been here for over 20 years,’ said Dr. Vishal Bansal, the director of trauma at Scripps.
The hospital is seeing migrant patients from across the globe including South America, Africa and Asia. —>READ MORE HERE
