Germany to Begin ‘Large Scale’ Deportations, Says Scholz as Country Faces Record Number of Illegals’; German Cabinet Members Call For Massive Cuts to Asylum Seeker Benefits Amid Migration Crisis
Germany to Begin ‘Large Scale’ Deportations, Says Scholz as Country Faces Record Number of Illegals:
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has admitted that “too many people are coming” into the country illegally and vowed to begin deportations on a “large scale” as Germany is on pace to see more illegal migrants enter the country than during the European Migrant Crisis of 2016.
Amid growing calls throughout Europe to crack down on illegal immigration in the wake of Islamist terror attacks and rising incidents of antisemitic crimes, leftist German leader Olaf Scholz has joined the chorus of leaders finally acknowledging that unfettered waves of illegals breaking into Europe must stop.
“Too many people are coming,” the chancellor told Der Spiegel magazine. “We must finally deport on a large scale those who have no right to stay in Germany.”
His comments come as data revealed by the German Federal Police on Saturday showed that the country is on pace to exceed the record levels of illegal migration set during the 2016 European Migrant Crisis, which came after Scholz’s predecessor Angela Merkel “opened the gates” of Europe to millions of migrants from the Middle East and Africa.
According to police data reported by public broadcaster Deutsche Welles, 21,366 illegals broke into Germany in September, alone, the highest monthly figure since February of 2016. In total, 92,119 illegally entered the country between the beginning of the year and September, meaning that this year is on pace to surpass the record of 112,000 illegals who came in 2016.
Chancellor Scholz, whose leftist Social Democrat Party (SPD) and government coalition partner the Greens have long opposed measures to clamp down on illegal migration, claimed that his government will stand together on increasing deportations. —>READ MORE HERE
German Cabinet Members Call For Massive Cuts to Asylum Seeker Benefits Amid Migration Crisis:
Two leading cabinet members in the German coalition government called for “a new realpolitik in the area of irregular migration” and for asylum-seeker benefits to be radically cut.
A joint article by Finance Minister Christian Lindner and Justice Minister Marco Buschmann in the Welt am Sonntag newspaper argued that the left-wing government of Germany has to “do better” in dealing with the longstanding migration crisis as the country is facing record levels of illegal migration and soaring levels of asylum applications.
The two cabinet members of the pro-business centrist Free Democratic Party (FDP), which alongside Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Social Democrats and the Greens make up the so-called ‘traffic light’ coalition government, argued that asylum seekers who are entitled to protections by other European countries should not receive welfare benefits in Germany.
“Under particularly strict conditions, a reduction in benefits to virtually ‘zero’ would be conceivable,” they wrote according to broadcaster NTV, saying that this should apply to those “who are entitled to humanitarian protection in the EU state responsible for them according to the Dublin rules, but who refuse to take advantage of the protection there.”
“In these cases, it would be conceivable to extend the benefit to reduce reimbursement of necessary travel costs to the responsible state,” they added.
Linder and Buschmann went on to argue that asylum seekers who remain in the country without a decision about their application for protection for over 18 months should not be automatically given additional benefits, as is the case now. —>READ MORE HERE
