US Immigrant Population Hits Record High at 15% — 10 Years Ahead of Census Bureau Projections; Report: U.S. Migrant Population Reaches Largest Share In History: Since Biden took office, the foreign-born population has grown by 4.5 million, which is in itself greater than the populations of 25 states
US Immigrant Population Hits Record High at 15% — 10 Years Ahead of Census Bureau Projections:
A new analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data concluded that the immigrant population in America has skyrocketed in recent years, reaching a record high of 15% nearly 10 years ahead of the department’s projections.
The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) analyzed Census Bureau projections released in November, which predicted that the total number of foreign-born individuals living in the U.S. would not reach 15% of the country’s population until 2033. Just one month later, however, CIS reported, “The scale of immigration is so high that it appears to have made the new Census Bureau population projections, published on November 9 of this year, obsolete.”
“If present trends are allowed to continue, the total number of immigrants would reach 58.9 million and 17.3% of the total population by the end of a second Biden term. These numbers and percentages are, of course, all new record highs.” pic.twitter.com/bedvXUty6u

“The Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey (CPS) shows that the total foreign-born or immigrant population (legal and illegal) was 49.5 million in October 2023 — a 4.5 million increase since President Biden took office and a new record high. At 15 percent, the foreign-born share of the U.S. population is also the highest ever recorded in American history.”
CIS noted that since President Biden took office in 2021, the immigrant population has grown by 4.5 million, which is “larger than the individual populations of 25 U.S. states.” The center estimates that more than half (2.5 million) of immigrants who have come to the U.S. since 2021 entered illegally; however, CIS stipulates in its report that the actual number of illegal immigrants could be higher than this, as the Census Bureau is not able to account for “gotaways” not processed by Customs and Border Protection (CBP). —>READ MORE HERE
Report: U.S. Migrant Population Reaches Largest Share In History:
Since Biden took office, the foreign-born population has grown by 4.5 million, which is in itself greater than the populations of 25 states.
A new report from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) shows that the foreign-born population in the United States has grown to 49.5 million, or 15 percent of the total population — the largest share ever recorded in American history.
A higher percentage of migrants reside in the United States now than in 1890, when they made up 14.8 percent of the population. Researchers from the Census Bureau did not expect the share of the foreign-born population to reach 15 percent until 2033.
Since Biden took office, the foreign-born population has grown by 4.5 million, which is in itself greater than the populations of 25 states. More than half of this growth likely comes from illegal immigration, with researchers pointing to the expiration of Title 42 and President Biden’s lax border policies as explanations for the unprecedented growth.
The report also found migrants from Latin America accounted for 63 percent of the total increase in the foreign-born population.
Under President Barack Obama, the foreign-born population grew on average 68,000 a month; under the Biden administration, that number has jumped to 137,000. As the CIS report clarifies, while legal migration still accounts for 75 percent of the total population of the foreign-born, “a large share of the recent foreign-born growth is due to illegal immigration.”
Between January 2021 and July 2023, 7 million “encounters” were recorded at U.S. national borders. But according to the CIS report, the number of “got-aways,” or “subjects observed entering illegally but not stopped or turned back,” more than doubled in 2021 compared to the pre-Covid levels of 2019. What’s more, as indicated on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) websites, at least 2.6 million inadmissible aliens have been let loose into the United States since Biden took office. —>READ MORE HERE
