In the shadow of continued fighting in the North of Israel, and more than a week after his last public statement, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah claimed on Sunday, “After one hundred days, Israel has not been able to achieve its declared and undeclared goals in the war against Hamas.
“Israel was not able to destroy the resistance, not even the Hamas government. All the areas that were evacuated in the north of the Gaza Strip are currently managed by the Hamas government. The enemy was not able to stop the rockets, even from the north of Gaza. The Israelis say that after 100 days, Israel is mired in failure, and some use the phrase ‘a deep hole’ from which its leaders do not know how to get out. What did it achieve in 100 days other than killing?
“It failed to achieve even a semblance of victory,” Nasrallah added.
“Gaza has entered its 100th day of Resistance and steadfastness, a legendary, unprecedented steadfastness that has not been witnessed before in history,” he stated. “Gaza’s Resistance continues to combat the enemy with absolute ingenuity and bravery. Their media front has played a crucial role in revealing their accomplishments to the world, especially as the enemy continues its strict media censorship.”
The Hezbollah leader also made the comparison between past Israeli conflicts, where Israel’s military was able to defeat several Arab countries’ armies in a matter of days whilst seemingly taking its time to oust Hamas from power in Gaza.
“When Israel’s capabilities were dramatically less advanced than they are today, they were able to defeat a number of Arab armies within six days,” Nasrallah said. “Whereas today, for a hundred days, they have not been able to defeat Gaza.”
Nasrallah also addressed the ongoing tensions in the Red Sea, where the US, UK and allies launched airstrikes across Yemen to target Houthi infrastructure. The Houthis have been attacking ships heading for Israel through the Red Sea. He also mentioned Israel’s ongoing genocide trial brought to the International Court of Justice by South Africa.
“The Americans have taken on the role of trying to subjugate the members of the Resistance Axis who have been supporting Gaza, attempting to threaten and terrorize them into stopping their support,” Nasrallah announced. “They have tried this in Yemen, Iraq and Lebanon, to no effect. The events in the Red Sea have left their toll on the occupying entity and its economy, and revealed its truth to the world, which is happening today in The Hague.”
Israeli citizens killed by Hezbollah missile
Two Israeli citizens were killed on Sunday by an anti-tank missile from Lebanon and were later named as 40-year-old Barak Ayalon and his 70-year-old mother Mira, Israeli media reported on Sunday.
Ayalon was part of Kfar Yuval’s emergency response squad, where he was killed. His father was also seriously injured in the missile fire.
The IDF responded by targeting an operational command post as well as one other military target belonging to the Lebanon-based Iranian terror proxy, Hezbollah, on Sunday, the IDF stated.
Hezbollah could turn the entirety of Lebanon into a war zone, IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi said in a Saturday evening address.
“Southern Lebanon is a war zone and will remain as such as long as Hezbollah continues operating from within it,” Halevi said. “Hezbollah may turn all of Lebanon into a war zone, there will be dire consquences for that,” he warned.
