Jesus' Coming Back

Teen Working at Kroger Hears Senior Citizen Told to Put Groceries Back So He Pulls out His Wallet

When Teo Jordan, a teen working at Kroger in Kentucky, overheard a cashier telling an elderly man to put back the items he couldn’t afford, the young man instantly stepped in. And the simple act of kindness has so many praising the humble teen!

Teo Jordan is an 18-year-old high school senior from Covington, Kentucky.

And the teen had only been working at Kroger as a bagger for a few weeks. And he’s working on saving up to buy a vehicle. But that didn’t stop him from going above and beyond for a customer in need!

It happened when Teo overheard a conversation at the checkout between a cashier and a senior citizen.

The cashier told the elderly man he didn’t have enough money to cover the groceries in his order. And without the slightest hesitation, Teo Jordan reached into his own wallet.

“I just seen [sic] I wanted to help the guy,” Teo said of the random act of kindness. “I saw that he didn’t have the money for all the groceries that he wanted. The cashier told him he would have to put some of the things back, so I just thought in my head I would give him this $35 so he could have all the food that he wants.”

The teen working at Kroger didn’t think anything of his act of kindness. After all, he believes you should “just treat people how you want to be treated — always help out if somebody needs it.”

But Teo’s good deed awed others, as well as left his proud mom “overwhelmed with joy.”

Teo Jordan didn’t expect or want a big fuss made over his kind deed. But in these difficult times, inspiring short stories like these are just what we need to hear. And Teo has some good advice for all of us.

“Just do something helpful for people,” he says. “Let them know that God’s there for them and make sure they have a good day.”
