Dr. Anthony Fauci deserves to go to prison over ‘dishonesty’ on COVID-19 origins: Sen. Rand Paul
Dr. Anthony Fauci “should go to prison” for mishandling the COVID-19 pandemic and making the “worst decision ever made by a public health official in the history of time” regarding the origins of the deadly outbreak, Sen. Rand Paul charged Sunday.
Paul, a Kentucky Republican and eye doctor, has repeatedly clashed with Fauci over mask-wearing, lockdowns and other emergency measures ordered and recommended by the then-director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
“History should judge him as a deficient person who made one of the worst decisions in public health history — in the entire history of the world,” Paul said of the former chief White House medical advisor during an interview on WABC 770 AM’s “The Cats Roundtable.”
The senator ripped “slipshod” Fauci, holding him culpable for research done in the Wuhan, China lab, which Paul believes triggered the viral outbreak.
“For his dishonesty, frankly, he should go to prison,” Paul told WABC host John Catsimatidis. “Do you think the scientific knowledge that was gained from this research was worth the deaths of 20 million people?”
The Government Accountability Office issued a report in June 2023 that found the National Institutes of Health (NIH) had contributed more than $1.4 million to Chinese research institutions between 2014 and 2019 despite serious biosafety concerns, including at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. —>READ MORE HERE
Sen. Paul says Fauci deserves prison for COVID-19 mishandling: ‘There was no science’:
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said in an interview Monday that Dr. Anthony Fauci will not go down favorably in history over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, and that the former presidential medical advisor should be behind bars for purportedly lying to Congress in previous hearings.
“His actions in covering up the origins of the virus will go down in history as probably one of the most egregious and infamous public health decisions in our lifetime,” Paul told Fox News Digital in an interview Monday.
“Every step of the way, Fauci has publicly protested and said ‘we never funded any gain function research in Wuhan,’ but if you look at his private emails, it tells a different story,” Paul said.
Gain-of-function research involves manipulating the genes of microorganisms to give them new functions or characteristics. In the context of COVID-19, gain-of-function research found that the virus could have originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, China, and involved experiments that enhanced its transmissibility, or pathogenicity.
In previous congressional testimony, Fauci refuted claims that the National Institutes of Health had financed gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab — the epicenter of the pandemic that originated in late 2019 and would soar to pandemic proportions in 2020.
Fauci testified for the second time last week in private before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, which is investigating the origins of the virus.
The committee’s chairman, Rep. Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, was reportedly perturbed that Fauci was unable to recall decisions or circumstances from the early stages of the outbreak, which claimed the lives of 1.1 million Americans, he wrote in a statement. —>READ MORE HERE
