Texas Gov. Abbott Continues Laying Razor Wire Around Migrant-Engulfed Border City Despite Recent Supreme Court Ruling; Border Patrol Says Agents WILL NOT REMOVE Texas Razor Wire Barriers: Union Says Agents WILL NOT INTERFERE with “lawful” Operations to Protect the Border
Texas Gov. Abbott continues laying razor wire around migrant-engulfed border city despite recent Supreme Court ruling:
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has continued to install razor wire around a migrant-engulfed border city despite a US Supreme Court ruling this week that granted federal agents access to the area.
“Texas’ razor wire is an effective deterrent against the illegal border crossings encouraged by Biden’s open border policies,” Abbott defiantly wrote on X Wednesday.
“We continue to deploy this razor wire to repel illegal immigration.”
Texas officials cordoned off Shelby Park in Eagle Pass earlier this month and stationed state National Guard units at the site to block anyone, including Border Patrol agents who hadn’t been granted prior approval, from entering.
Abbott argued that the parcel had been used as a gathering place for migrants entering the US by crossing the nearby Rio Grande river.
Denying access to the area, he said, discouraged illegal entries into Eagle Pass, Texas.
The Department of Homeland Security is fighting to regain access to the stretch, contending its personnel are unable to reach migrants in need of emergency care.
In a 5-4 decision this week, the Supreme Court ruled that US Border Patrol agents can cut through the concertina wire to access the site if needed.
But Abbott has since doubled down on his gambit, erecting additional razor wire in the area since the ruling.

Border Patrol Says Agents Will NOT Remove Texas Razor Wire Barriers:
Union says agents will not interfere with “lawful” operations to protect the border
In defiance of the Biden Administration’s wishes, senior figures within Customs and Border Protection have stated that there are no plans to have Border Patrol agents remove razor wire barriers erected along sections of the border by the Texas National Guard.
Fox News reports that a high ranking CBP official told the network that their relationship with the Guard is “strong”.
“While this issue plays out in the courts, the relationship between Border Patrol, Texas DPS [Department of Public Safety], & TMD [Texas Military Dept.] remains strong,” the official said, adding “Our focus is and will always be the mission of protecting this country and its people.”
“On the ground, we continue to work alongside these valuable partners in that endeavor,” the official continued, adding “Bottom line: Border Patrol has no plans to remove infrastructure (c-wire) placed by Texas along the border.”
“Our posture remains the same. If we need to access an area for emergency response, we will do so. When that happens, we will coordinate with Texas DPS & TMD,” the official further declared.

The Border Patrol Union also issued a statement outlining that agents will not interfere with Texas National Guard members carrying out “lawful” operations.
“TX NG and rank-and-file BP agents work together and respect each other’s jobs. Period. If TX NG members have LAWFUL orders, then they have to carry out those orders,” the statement notes. —>READ MORE HERE
