Terrorist attempts stabbing at central station in Beersheba, shot by soldier

A terrorist attempted to stab people at the central station in Beersheba and was neutralized by a soldier present at the scene, according to the IDF.

Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics provided medical treatment to the 20-year-old man with a stab wound in moderate condition. Another IDF soldier was lightly wounded. Both were evacuated to Soroka Medical Center in stable condition.

The terrorist, Naji Abu Farih, was a Bedouin resident of Rahat and a furniture bus driver, according to local reports.

Documentation from the scene shows the terrorist running between platforms at the central station, wielding a knife. He was neutralized at the scene and taken to a medical center. He was later declared dead.

Southern district police are conducting searches to remove any additional threats. According to the preliminary investigation, the terrorist got off a bus and then conducted the attack.

Without delay, we began medical treatment, providing bandages and medication, and then transported him to the hospital using an intensive care ambulance.”

The mayor of Beersheba, Ruvik Danilovich, commented, “A few minutes ago, I spoke with the Southern District Commander of the Israel Police, Superintendent Amir Cohen, who updated me on the details of the stabbing attack that resulted in the soldier’s injury and the neutralization of the terrorist.  My thoughts are with the courageous soldier for a swift recovery. Security forces, in collaboration with the Israel Police, are deployed across the city.”
