At least two people were lightly wounded after Hezbollah fired a barrage of several dozen rockets toward Kiryat Shmona on Sunday. The Ziv Medical Center received two patients who were wounded by shock waves from the rocket fire.

The rockets hit several buildings throughout the city and an intensive care ambulance belonging to Magen David Adom, according to emergency services. Power outages were reported in the city as well, according to the Electric Company. Local residents told Israeli media that the rockets began falling on the city before the sirens went off.

Following a situation assessment, several roads in towns near the border were closed by the IDF.

Hezbollah took responsibility for the rocket fire, saying it launched dozens of Katyusha and Falaq rockets toward Kiryat Shmona in response to an earlier Israeli airstrike on Meiss El Jabal in southern Lebanon.

Lebanese media reported that four members of one family were killed in the Israeli airstrike in Meiss El Jabal, claiming that all four were civilians. Lebanese media has periodically reported casualties as civilian in Israeli airstrikes in recent months with Hezbollah later claiming some of the casualties as militants in the terrorist organization.

Later in the afternoon, a second barrage of about 65 rockets was fired toward the northern Golan Heights and northern Galilee, with several rockets falling in open areas and igniting wildfires. Hezbollah took responsibility for that barrage as well, saying it had fired dozens of Katyusha rockets.

Northern residents issue demands to government

Organizations representing residents of northern Israel issued a joint statement on Sunday, expressing concerns about a ceasefire agreement reportedly being discussed between Hezbollah and Israel.

“In recent days, reports have been coming in that a political arrangement is being formulated to end the activity on the northern front, without guaranteeing a real change in the security reality in the north,” said the organizations, stressing that the reported outline violates both UN Security Resolution 1701 and of the government’s resolution to evacuate residents of the north.

The organizations issued three demands, including a change in the security situation and the removal of the threat on the border, an end to decisions being made over the heads of citizens, and for all local leaders to unite and work to represent all the residents of the cities, local council, and regional councils.

Israel Air Force jets strike Hezbollah targets

Overnight between Saturday and Sunday, Israel Air Force fighter jets struck Hezbollah terror targets in southern Lebanon, including a military structure in the area of El-Khiam and an observation post in the area of Matmoura.

Furthermore, IDF artillery targeted terrorist infrastructure in the areas of Nakoura and Halta in southern Lebanon.
