Yes, Democrats Have Made Milwaukee A ‘Horrible’ City

The same dishonest corporate media that want you to believe Joe Biden didn’t freeze up and had to be helped off the stage by a former president has spent an insane amount of time and energy this week reporting on Donald Trump’s thoughts on Milwaukee.

“Donald Trump made a brazen bid for support in the vital swing state of Wisconsin on Tuesday by declaring his affection for its biggest population centre, Milwaukee, just days after denigrating it as a horrible city,” the Guardian reported. That was the news outlet’s main takeaway from the former president’s campaign stop in Racine, a Lake Michigan city of about 80,000 people in battleground Wisconsin. The Guardian is a leftist publication based in the U.K. You can tell by the way it misspells “center” and eschews real context.

The Guardian’s breathless report was one of myriad prepackaged pieces — from Politico to CNN to taxpayer-funded PBS — peddled by the accomplice media. Milwaukee, of course, is the site of next month’s Republican National Convention, where Trump is slated to be nominated for a third time as the GOP’s presidential candidate. President Joe Biden, Trump’s opponent in the rematch of the 2020 election, presides over a Justice Department trying to put his political nemesis in prison.

The Party That Made Milwaukee ‘Horrible’

“I love Milwaukee. I was the one that picked Milwaukee [for the convention], I have to tell you,” Trump told a throng of supporters at an open-air festival park. He accused Democrats of lying about his comment last week in which he reportedly told Wisconsin’s GOP congressional delegation, “Milwaukee, where we are having our convention, is a horrible city,” according to a report from Punchbowl News.

That’s what he said, the House members have confirmed. But, as Paul Harvey used to say, now, for the rest of the story.

A source who was at the meeting told me Thursday that the former president’s comment “was all about how Milwaukee handles its elections.” Such context appeared to be missing from the cookie-cutter stories.

The Democrat-led city, by many accounts, handles its elections horribly.

As The Federalist and other publications and watchdogs have reported, Milwaukee has been at the epicenter of suspect election administrations and procedures, particularly in 2020. Milwaukee was a member of the infamous “Wisconsin-5” — the Badger State’s largest cities — that received the lion’s share of more than $10 million in “Zuckbucks” grants. The so-called safe elections grants, rolled out under the cover of Covid, were part of hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife to a far-left activist organization.

The Wisconsin-5 used the money in part to promote get-out-the-vote efforts targeting Democrat voters. They partnered with left-wing activists, including a Democrat operative who was embedded in election administration offices.

Milwaukee’s election chief at the time, Claire Woodall, presided over a dysfunctional election office that routinely experienced long delays in ballot counting and reporting results. As I reported last year, in the early morning hours of Nov. 4, 2020, long after the polls had closed in the presidential election the day before, Woodall announced a batch of tens of thousands of votes had finally been counted. The vast majority of the votes were for Democrat Joe Biden, which helped to give him an extremely narrow victory over Republican President Donald Trump in the battleground Badger State.

“Damn, Claire, you have a flair for drama, delivering just the margin needed at 3:00 a.m.,” wrote Ryan Chew of the left-leaning Elections Group in an email to the city elections chief. “I bet you had those votes counted at midnight, and just wanted to keep the world waiting!”

Woodall was shown the door last month by Mayor Cavalier Johnson. A spokesman for the Democrat mayor said Woodall was let go because of “other issues internal to the election commission office and to city government that raised concern.”

Republicans and election-integrity watchdogs continue to be concerned about Democrat bastion Milwaukee’s ability to freely and fairly administer elections.

Wisconsin U.S. Reps. Scott Fitzgerald, Glenn Grothman, and Tom Tiffany told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that election integrity is what Trump was referring to when he talked about Milwaukee being “horrible.”

Dangerous City

But U.S. Rep. Derrick Van Orden, a Republican who represents western Wisconsin, said Trump was “specifically referring to the crime” in Milwaukee.

If that also is the case, Trump once again isn’t wrong. Milwaukee is a dangerous city.

While crime is down, it’s down from recent years when Milwaukee threepeated homicide records, hitting an all-time high of at least 224 murders in 2022, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The latest homicides include two teenage boys who were fatally shot. Police reported multiple shootings last Saturday alone, leaving three people dead and a 6-year-old injured.

Milwaukee politicians like to blame the crime spike on the pandemic. Of course, city officials pushing a defund-the-police agenda and morale-punched officers leaving in droves in the wake of a leftist-led law enforcement vilification campaign have nothing to do with it.

Milwaukee’s crime problem is in no small part a Milwaukee policy/leadership problem. And the Brew City has for decades been led by Democrats, just like most of the communities on another top 10 most dangerous cities list. Many of those same cities flirted with, entertained, or outright defunded portions of their law enforcement budgets.

Trump has made crime and declining quality of life in blue cities a top talking point in his presidential campaign, and rightly so. The accomplice media insist he’s wrong. Some accuse him of being racist. Tell all that to the victims living in inner-city war zones.

No doubt Trump needs Wisconsin, among six or seven swing states that will likely decide November’s election. No doubt that’s why the Republican Nation Committee chose Milwaukee to host its nominating convention. But Democrat enclave Milwaukee is still going to give most of its votes to Democrat Joe Biden. The majority of Milwaukeeans have long voted against their interests in the name of a party that has failed them. Why stop now?

And its horrible elections office will surely do what it can to help Biden’s cause, as it did in 2020.

As is clear to anyone with eyes, Biden’s getting a lot of help these days, particularly from his caretakers in the accomplice media.
