Donald Trump Jr.’s Latest MSNBC Face-Off Proves Republicans Can’t Hate Corporate Media Enough
Republicans hoping to learn how to deal with the corrupt corporate media and their never-ending stream of lies should look no further than Donald Trump Jr.’s recent exchange with MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
Soboroff approached Trump Jr. and his brother Eric Trump during the convention on Monday asking them to preview their father’s ruling style if he is elected to the White House for a second time. He also asked Trump Jr. to agree that the 45th president is a “divisive figure.”
“Your father as president, I think you would even say was a divisive figure. What’s it going to look like in the second term?” Soboroff asked Trump Jr.
“I don’t think he was a divisive figure at all,” Trump Jr. retorted. “I think the media created divisiveness around him. They lied about Russia, Russia collusion. They said he was a traitor. They went after him in every whichways possible.”
Trump Jr. is right. Ever since his dad descended the golden escalator in 2015, the propaganda press have done nothing but lie, hoax, and smear the Republican’s name and political career to advance Democrats’ “get Trump” agenda.
It doesn’t matter to outlets like MSNBC that a significant number of Americans voted for Trump in 2016 and tell pollsters they would do the same if the 2024 presidential election were held today. Their goal from the beginning was to do everything they could to stop Trump and silence his voters by whatever means necessary.
“If the media actually starts being an honest broker talking about the things that he did, the prosperity he brought, the peace deals that he signed around the world, rather than the disaster that we’re living right now, I think you do everyone in the country a big favor,” Trump Jr. continued.
Soboroff ignored Trump Jr.’s advice, instead pivoting to a question that sought to revive a years-old lie about Trump’s border response.
“I know immigration is important to him. I covered the family separation crisis closely. Will we continue to see policies like separating 5,000 children deliberately from their parents?” Soboroff asked.
“You mean the Obama administration?” Trump Jr. asked, rightfully pointing out that the infamous “kids in cages” narrative that dominated front pages and TV segments during Trump’s tenure could be attributed to the Obama White House and was later copied by the Biden administration.
“You know they didn’t do that, sir,” Soboroff claimed.
Even if former President Barack Obama had nothing to do with the “kids in cages” as Soboroff insists, Americans don’t care about a media-manufactured migrant scandal from two administrations ago. They care about the ongoing border invasion, incentivized by Biden, that brings violent crime, fatal drugs, and other problems to their hometowns at alarming rates.
If Soboroff was anything close to a decent journalist who wanted to get to the bottom of Trump’s plans to save the country, he would have asked how the Republican will handle Americans’ overwhelming concerns about the millions of illegal border crossers entering the country in record-breaking swaths. Instead, he confirmed that the staggering number of Americans who have lost faith in corporate media to accurately report on or reflect their views are right to distrust press people like him.
Trump Jr., who quickly realized there is no reasoning with one of the thousands of irrational partisans running the corporate press, ended the interview there. But not before giving Soboroff a piece of his mind.
“It’s M-S-D-N-C, so I expect nothing less from you clowns. Even today, even 48 hours later, you couldn’t wait. You couldn’t wait with your lies and with your nonsense. So, just get out of here,” Trump Jr. said.
After nearly a decade of telling Americans what to think instead of listening to their concerns, corrupt corporate media deserve nothing but the dismissal Trump Jr. gave to Soboroff.
