Ukraine attacks train ferry carrying fuel tanks in southern Russia

A firefighting unit has been dispatched to the port of Kavkaz in Krasnodar Region to extinguish the blaze, following Kiev’s missile strike, local officials have reported

Ukrainian forces attacked a railway ferry at the port of Kavkaz in Russia’s Krasnodar Region on Thursday, RIA Novosti news outlet has said, citing local emergency services. The missile strike is said to have sparked a massive fire and a firefighting train has reportedly been dispatched to the scene.

Fedor Babenkov, the head of Temryuk district, where the port is located, has stated on his official Telegram channel that the targeted ship had been carrying 30 fuel tanks.

He added that 12 fire brigades and 3 ambulance brigades were working at the scene.

According to the Krasnodar Operational Headquarters Telegram channel, over 100 people are involved in extinguishing the blaze, including 43 people and 13 units from the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

So far there has been no confirmation of any casualties. RIA Novosti, citing the emergency services, has reported that five people were believed to have been aboard the train ferry when the missile struck. Their fate remains unclear, according to the outlet.
