US Central Command kills Al Qaeda-affiliated Hurras al-Din senior leader

US Central Command (CENTCOM) killed Al Qaeda-affiliated Hurras al-Din senior leader Abu-’Abd al-Rahman al-Makki Friday in a targeted kinetic strike in Idlib, Syria, CENTCOM reported in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Abu-’Abd al-Rahman al-Makki was a Shura Council member and senior leader of the terrorist organization responsible for overseeing terrorist operations from Syria.

“CENTCOM remains committed to the enduring defeat of terrorists in the CENTCOM area of responsibility who threaten the United States, its allies and partners, and regional stability,” said CENTCOM commander Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla.

Hurras al-Din

Hurras al-Din is an Al Qaeda-associated terrorist organization based in Syria, which emerged in 2018.

In September 2019, the US designated Hurras al-Din as a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist” under Executive Order 13224, which was created following the September 11 attack that Al Qaeda was responsible for.
