Ukrainian drones strike apartment blocks deep inside Russia (VIDEOS)
At least four people were injured in the attack on Saratov Region on Monday morning
Ukrainian kamikaze drones have hit high-rise residential buildings in Saratov Region, Russia, Governor Roman Busargin said in the early hours of Monday.
According to Busargin, the air defenses responded to the attack, but falling “drone fragments” hit houses in the cities of Saratov and Engels.
A video posted on Telegram shows the moment a drone hit a 38-story apartment block in Saratov, a city of 950,000 people in western Russia.
Four people were injured, including a woman who remains in critical condition, RIA Novosti reported, citing the regional health department.
Another UAV crashed into an apartment block in Engels, with the debris damaging parked cars.
A drone has also been shot down over Bryansk Region, Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz said.
The Russian Defense Ministry released a statement, saying that 20 drones were intercepted overnight, including nine over Saratov Region.
On August 6, Ukraine launched an incursion into Kursk Region, Russia, overrunning dozens of villages and Sudzha, a border town with a pre-conflict population of 5,000. At least 31 civilians were killed and more than 140 were wounded during Ukraine’s offensive, according to Russian officials.
Heavy fighting continues in Kursk as Moscow has deployed additional forces to repel the invaders.
