Rescued hostage Qaid Farhan Alkadi has been discharged from hospital, the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba announced on Wednesday. However, Alkadi has said he can not fully celebrate his freedom while there are still so many hostages remaining.
Earlier, the hospital said Alkadi was in stable condition while undergoing treatment.
He was rescued from Hamas captivity by the IDF on Tuesday.
Family by his side
The doctor further added that Alkadi remains very emotional, having barely slept through the night, with his family by his side the entire time.
“I cherish every minute I have in the light; I was in darkness for so long,” Alkadi said. “I am enjoying every minute with my family.” His doctor explained that Alkadi’s overall condition is good, but he is physically neglected and thin, stating, “The weight loss is very noticeable, but he is a very strong person.”
As crowds greeted him at the hospital, they told Alkadi that they have been waiting for his release and preparing for it. They told him that they are looking forward to more moments like this one, where more hostages were rescued or released alive.
Alkadi enthusiastically agreed.
