Don’t Let Kamala Harris’ ‘I’m Speaking’ Debate Trick Fool You

Kamala Harris has participated in several debates over the last five years and said some startling things. Yet, the moment that corporate media, Democrats, and her campaign herald to this day came when she repeatedly told off the USA Today moderator and Vice President Mike Pence for trying to get a word in edgewise at the 2020 vice presidential debate.

“Mr. Vice President, I’m speaking,” Harris said during the faceoff.

As Harris’ first debate as the Democrat party’s presidential nominee rapidly approaches, her team is scrambling to perfect the conditions for her to recreate that moment. Their hope is that she will eke through the night without the disastrous fallout that plagued President Joe Biden in June.

A couple of Harris allies, including failed Democrat presidential candidate Julian Castro, hoping to aid this mission chimed in with articles nudging the candidate to capitalize on as many “I’m speaking” moments as possible from the stage. If Harris can produce another set of spicy soundbites on Tuesday night as she did in 2020, the New Yorker added, she will successfully curry adulation from the corrupt corporate media and Democrats without having “to lift a finger.”

Debate rules dictate, however, that the mics will cut off when a candidate’s time to speak expires, making it difficult for Harris to play her part as a victim of interruption.

Harris’ campaign may have griped and grumbled about this rule because it prevents the Democrat from freely sassing Trump, but the VP will still have plenty of time to say her piece.

In fact, Harris already has a leg up with the moderators, who come from the same class of corporate media that has routinely failed to press her about her history of radicalism and record unpopularity.

Harris has also had plenty of opportunities to pitch and defend her political track record to Americans from behind the presidential podium. Harris wants voters to forget her position in power, but ever since Democrats couped President Joe Biden into vacation mode, she’s been the unofficial face of the White House and all of the destructive policies that have come out of it.

Compare and contrast Harris’ ability to freely communicate with Americans with the uphill battle former President Donald Trump has faced.

Thanks to the weaponization of the justice system against Democrats’ top political enemy, Trump has spent the last year fighting gag orders openly designed to keep him from criticizing bureaucratic corruption from the campaign trail. He even survived an assassination attempt that aimed to eliminate him from the 2024 election and the world for good.

When she finally chooses to do them, Harris has her pick of media interviews. Trump, his policies, and his running mate, however, are routinely smeared by the propaganda press.

Harris will walk out on the National Constitution Center stage on Tuesday prepared to make Trump look like a bad guy who deserves vitriol and punishment for talking over women like her, among other things. Don’t fall for that ruse.

Harris hopes using performative throat-clearing to make a point on Tuesday night will help her avoid discussion about her indefensible policies, many of which are copied directly from Biden. That shouldn’t sit well with Americans who have lived for four years now with the consequences of Biden and Harris’ lies.
