US-made launcher ‘blown to pieces’ in Ukraine – MOD (VIDEO)
The Russian military has reported another strike on an М270 MLRS donated to Kiev
A Russian missile strike has “blown to pieces” a US-made multiple launch rocket system deployed by Ukraine near the border with Kursk Region, the Defense Ministry said on Monday.
According to the statement, Russian reconnaissance troops spotted a Kiev-operated М270 tracked platform on the move and tracked it to a location south of Novy Put, a forested area on the Russian side of the border.
After the launcher’s position was fixed, it was hit by what appears to be a ballistic missile. The ministry released a short clip of the engagement, which was filmed at night and shows a powerful explosion among the trees.
The Russian military said that in addition to the missile launcher, it destroyed some 20 rockets compatible with the American system, an escort vehicle, and up to 10 Ukrainian troops.
Last month, Kiev deployed thousands of troops across the border and seized parts of Kursk Region, but failed to advance deeper into Russian territory. Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky claims that the incursion is part of his “victory plan”, which he intends to present to US President Joe Biden soon.
Since last week, the Russian Defense Ministry has been reporting the liberation of villages in Kursk Region that were previously under Kiev’s control.
Russia estimates Ukrainian military losses in the incursion at over 13,800 troops, as of Monday.
