Huge explosion from Israeli strikes in Beirut (VIDEOS)

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) dropped more bombs on Beirut on Sunday, causing a large explosion in the Lebanese capital.

The air raids continued into the night as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to redouble the fight against Hezbollah, which has been firing rockets and mortar shells into northern Israel.

Al Jazeera correspondent Laura Khan reported “an absolutely massive explosion” in Beirut’s southern suburbs, adding that she has seen at least two strikes.

Videos posted to social media show a bright blaze followed by a powerful blast.

In a message of X, the Israeli army said that it was striking Hezbollah targets in Beirut.

The IDF intensified the bombing of Lebanon in late September and has since launched ground raids across the border. West Jerusalem said that the goal of the operation is to make northern Israel safe for the return of some 70,000 residents who fled from Hezbollah attacks.

More than 2,000 people have been killed in Lebanon and over 1.2 million were displaced since Israel launched its Operation Northern Arrows on September 23, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
