Musk’s Lottery Is Legal; Biden Slams Elon Musk’s ‘totally inappropriate’ $1M Voter Giveaway as Philly DA Sues to Halt It
Musk’s Lottery Is Legal:
The same progressive academics who brought us the unconstitutional McCain-Feingold campaign-finance law have their underwear in a twist over Elon Musk’s advocacy of free speech. Yesterday, Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner, who was elected with the help of left-wing financier George Soros, announced he is suing Musk.
“Musk must be stopped, immediately, before the upcoming Presidential Election,” Krasner argues in his suit. “That is because America PAC and Musk hatched their illegal lottery scheme to influence voters in that election.”
Musk must explain to a local court why he believes Krasner’s request for the lottery to be stopped is wrong.
The U.S. Justice Department has also warned Musk, saying that he may be in violation of federal law for having his America PAC conduct a million-dollar lottery for registered voters who sign his “Petition in Favor of Free Speech and the Rights to Bear Arms.”
The petition asks the signer to agree that the “First and Second Amendments guarantee freedom of speech and the right to bear arms.” Each day, one individual who signs the petition in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, or North Carolina is to be awarded $1 million. Each signer can earn $47 for each registered voter they get to also sign the petition.
The only people eligible to win the lottery or collect the bonus are those who are already registered voters. That means that Musk is NOT paying individuals to register to vote. He is paying them to sign the petition. —READ MORE HERE
Biden slams Elon Musk’s ‘totally inappropriate’ $1M voter giveaway as Philly DA sues to halt it:
Retiring President Biden ripped billionaire Elon Musk Monday for funding a $1 million giveaway to swing-state voters — as Democratic Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner filed a lawsuit attempting to stop the raffle.
“I think it’s totally inappropriate,” Biden, 81, said after voting early in Wilmington, Del.
Krasner filed the first known lawsuit earlier in the day attempting to halt the novel voter engagement initiative by Musk-backed America PAC.
“America PAC and Musk must be stopped, immediately, before the upcoming Presidential Election on Nov. 5,” the progressive DA’s lawsuit says, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
“That is because America PAC and Musk hatched their illegal lottery scheme to influence voters in that election,” the suit says of the group and its Tesla billionaire backer — a major supporter of GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The lawsuit was filed in the Philadelphia Common Pleas Court rather than in federal court, meaning that even if there is a decision before the election, the ruling would not apply outside of Pennsylvania.
Krasner’s lawsuit is believed to be the first targeting the deep-pocketed stunt, which is awarding the cash to registered voters in seven swing states who sign an online petition expressing support for the Constitution’s protection of the freedom of speech and the right to bear arms.
Musk, 53, has shocked Democrats with the unusual payouts, which are designed to excite conservatives in the states where polling is essentially tied between Trump and his foe, Dem Vice President Kamala Harris. —>READ MORE HERE
