In the Kharkiv sector Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled two enemy attacks near Vovchansk.
In the Kupyansk sector , the enemy unsuccessfully tried to advance 4 times near Nova Kruhlyakivka, Lozova and Synkivka.
In the Liman sector , terrorists fired 12 times in the areas of Nadiya, Tverdokhlibove, Zarichne, Novosergiyivka and Pershotravneve.
In the Northern sector Ukrainian troops repelled one attack in the vicinity of Bilohorivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector , the occupants’ activity resulted in 4 combat engagements near Chasovyi Yar, Stupochky and Predtechyno.
In the Toretsk sector , 7 firefights took place near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka, 5 enemy attacks were stopped by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the areas of Toretsk and Krymske.
In the Pokrovsk sector , the enemy army attacked 50 times in the areas of Yelizavetivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Solone, Novovasylivka, Novoyelizavetivka and Yasenove. Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 5
As of 10:00 p.m. Kyiv time on January 5, there have been 177 combat clashes on the frontlines. More than half of them occurred in the Pokrovsk and Kursk directions, according to the evening report from the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff.
Russian shelling
On January 5, the enemy launched one missile strike with two missiles, 52 airstrikes (77 guided bombs), and used 930 kamikaze drones for attacks. They carried out over 4,200 shellings of Ukrainian military positions and settlements.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled two enemy attacks near Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted to advance four times during the day near Nova Kruhlyakivka, Lozova, and Synkivka. All of the enemy’s attacks have been repelled.
In the Lyman direction, the Russian army launched 12 attacks in the areas of Nadiya, Tverdokhlibove, Zarichne, Novoserhiiivka, and Pershotravneve. Three attacks are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, our forces repelled one enemy attack near Bilohorivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, enemy activity resulted in four combat clashes near Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, and Predtechyne. The battle is still ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, seven combat clashes are ongoing near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka, and five enemy assaults have been stopped by our defenders in the areas of Toretsk and Krymske.
The enemy attempted to break through our defense 50 times in the Pokrovsk direction. Since the beginning of the day, the occupiers have attacked the areas of the settlements of Yelyzavetivka, Vozdvizhenka, Myrolyubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Solone, Novovasylivka, Novoelyzavetivka, and Yaseneve.
