Three Israelis trapped on freezing mountain in Japan
Three young Israeli snowboarders are stranded in the Hakuba Mountain range in central Japan, suffering from hypothermia, according to Israeli media.
They have been stuck there for around 12 hours, and due to severe weather conditions, authorities say rescuers cannot be sent out until the morning.
The trio are reservists aged 27-28 and became trapped after straying from the marked snowboarding trail.
They are trapped in sub-zero temperatures in a state of hypothermia.
The Foreign Ministry announced that they had been working with local authorities to resolve the situation and rescue the trapped Israelis.
“Consul Israel Avinoam went to the area where the incident took place, and the Magnus rescue company is working to rescue them,” the ministry announced.
Complex rescue situation
Rescue teams have been unable to reach them because their location near a river is making the situation more complex.
Their phone was left at 15%, and they have remained in contact with Magnus rescue and have been receiving instructions on how to stay warm and survive the night.
