Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 7:

As of the evening of January 7, 159 combat engagements occurred in the frontline. Russian forces are actively attacking in the Pokrovsk direction and in the Kursk region, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian troops repelled four enemy attacks near Vovchansk and Tykhe. Currently, one attack is ongoing in the Tavilzhanka area.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy launched three assaults on Ukrainian defensive positions near Topoli, Holubivka, and Petropavlivka. All attacks were successfully repelled, with no gains for Russian forces.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops conducted 13 assaults on Ukrainian positions in the areas of Novoserhiivka, Nadiia, Pershotravneve, Cherneshchyna, Makiivka, Zarichne, Terny, and Ivanivka. One combat engagement is still ongoing.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled seven enemy attacks near Bilohorivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces attacked seven times near Vasiukivka, Bondarne, Chasiv Yar, and Stupochky. Two clashes are still ongoing.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian troops launched seven assaults on Ukrainian positions near Toretsk, Pivnichne, and Shcherbynivka. Two combat engagements remain active.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces carried out 38 assault and offensive operations throughout the day. Their activity was concentrated in the areas of Tarasivka, Vodiane Druhe, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Sukhyi Yar, Zelene, Novyi Trud, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Novovasylivka, and Nadiivka. The enemy used 16 guided aerial bombs targeting Pokrovsk.

“Since the beginning of the day, there have been 159 combat clashes, the enemy launched 28 airstrikes, dropping 59 anti-aircraft missiles, 750 kamikaze drone strikes, and carried out 3,886 attacks on the positions of our troops,” the publication states.

In the Kharkiv direction, our troops repelled four enemy attacks near Vovchansk and Tykhi. Currently, one enemy attack is underway in the Tavilzhanka area.

The aggressor launched three attacks on our fortifications in the Kupian direction near the settlements of Topoli, Golubivka, and Petropavlivka. Our defenders successfully repelled all attacks, the enemy had no success.

On the Lymanskyi direction, during the day, Russian troops stormed the positions of Ukrainian defenders 13 times in the districts of Novosergiivka, Nadia, Pershotravnevo, Cherneshchyna, Makiivka, Zarichny, Terniv, and Ivanivka. One battle is still ongoing.
