Illegal immigrant arrested in Massachusetts migrant motel with reported AR-15, kilos of fentanyl:

Revere mayor says suspect was ‘preying upon vulnerable people’

A Dominican illegal immigrant staying at a migrant motel in Revere is being held in jail after being charged with 11 counts including possession of an AR-15 and nearly five kilos of fentanyl with an estimated street value of $1 million.

“Illegal guns and drugs have no place in the city of Revere,” Mayor Patrick Keefe, Jr. said in a statement shared with the Herald.

“This individual was preying upon vulnerable people while threatening the safety and wellbeing of our entire community,” Keefe’s statement continued. “The City of Revere and the Revere Police Department will continue to uphold the laws of the Commonwealth and work to protect every person that calls Revere home.”

The Quality Inn where the suspect was staying “is closed to the public,” the Herald confirmed by calling the front desk. It is used as a temporary migrant shelter, multiple sources confirmed.

The facts surrounding the case of Leonardo Andujar Sanchez, 28, are murky as Chelsea District Court Judge Jane D. Price on Thursday ordered nearly all court documents impounded after finding Sanchez dangerous and sending him to jail until the end of April.

But the criminal complaint listing all the charges show a very serious case against Sanchez. And more details are likely to emerge at a probable cause hearing scheduled for Feb. 3.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers were present during Thursday’s hearing. A federal source tells the Herald that the agency has a detainer on Sanchez.

Of the 11 counts listed, 10 of them are firearm-related. The charge of unlicensed possession of an “assault weapon” is compounded with a slew of related charges including illegal possession, lack of an FID card, possession of a large-capacity feeding device and a charge that indicates Sanchez’s documentation status: “alien” in possession of a firearm.

The remaining charge is “trafficking in 200 grams or more” of “heroin/morphine/opium/fentanyl.” The “200 grams” is just a level indicator, as the complaint makes clear that Sanchez allegedly possessed well in excess of that number — 4,995 grams of the deadly drug, or just five grams short of five kilograms. —>READ MORE HERE

‘Sickening, outrageous!’ State senator demands reforms after illegal immigrant arrested at migrant motel with AR-15, fentanyl:

A state senator is demanding that the court records be made public in the case of an illegal immigrant evicted from a Revere shelter program following his arrest on charges including possession of an AR-15 rifle and roughly $1 million in fentanyl.

“If there’s anything I can do to effectuate change it’s demanding that the documents in this case be made public,” Sen. Ryan Fattman, a Sutton Republican, told the Herald Friday. “The public has a right to know what they’re funding.”

Revere Police arrested Leonardo Andujar Sanchez, 28, on Dec. 27. The Dominican resident of a Quality Inn used by the state to shelter migrants was charged in Chelsea District Court with 11 counts: 10 related to firearm possession — including “alien” in possession of a firearm, leaving no doubt to his documentation status — and one charging him with possession of nearly five kilograms of fentanyl.

Sanchez was arraigned on Dec. 30 and was ordered jailed until the end of April after being found dangerous during a subsequent hearing on Thursday. But the only court record the public can access is a listing of his charges.

There is no criminal complaint or police report available, either through the courts or through the Revere Police Department, which informed the Herald it had 10 days to comply with the request for the police report. Judge Jane Prince ordered the court documents impounded.

Sanchez and his family — which the state did not define — have been at the Revere emergency assistance (EA) shelter since Oct. 15, according to information provided by the Executive Office of Housing & Livable Communities (EOHLC).

The office conducts warrant checks of all EA residents every 30 days and all residents undergo background checks when they apply for a shelter, according to EOHLC spokesman Noah Bombard.

The Quality Inn shelter in Revere has contracted on-site security at all times, he added. But Bombard did not address the fentanyl and weapons possession counts that escaped the vetting and on-site security staff. —>READ MORE HERE
