Trump’s Superbowl visit
US President Donald Trump attended the Super Bowl on Sunday, the first sitting president to do so in person, greeted with a mix of cheers and boos.
Trump watched the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles from a box in the Superdome in New Orleans, along with his daughter, Ivanka, and son, Eric, as well as several lawmakers who accompanied him on Air Force One to New Orleans.
The president’s visit to the game came less than a week after his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where Trump’s statements about Gaza and the Palestinian people created shock waves across the Middle East and triggered the opposition of the regional powers and the international community.
On Tuesday evening, Trump announced that the US would take over the Gaza Strip for the foreseeable future as a way to bring stability not only to Israel’s neighbors but potentially the entire Middle East.
“We’re going to develop it, create thousands and thousands of jobs, and it will be something that the entire Middle East could be very proud of,” Trump said of Gaza.
