A major Israeli politician, Yuli Edelstein, Chairman of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, firmly rejected Trump’s Gaza plan, we are read in Haaretz:
Chairman of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, Yuli Edelstein, rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan that Egypt and Jordan take in Gaza’s two million residents.
“Immigration from Gaza should be directed to more distant countries,” he said.
He added that Israel is not interested in subjecting border countries to the process that Lebanon went through – “certainly not ones with which we have a solid peace agreement.”
“We’re not solving a problem with a bigger problem,” said Edelstein.
Edelstein is right. If you force Palestinians into Jordan by the hundreds of thousands, it will potentially destabilize Jordan and could lead to the overthrow of the Hashemites.
