Netanyahu meets with freed hostages Keith and Aviva Siegel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met on Thursday with Keith Siegel, who was released from Hamas captivity earlier this month, and his wife Aviva, who was freed from captivity in November of 2023.
Kieth Siegal thanked the prime minister for the efforts to secure his release, and the release of all additional hostages, while Aviva and Shir Siegal thanked Sara Netanyahu for her efforts.
“Along with the entire Israeli people, we were very excited to see Keith home,” Netanyahu, who also met their daughter Shir, said in a statement following the meeting. “I had promised Aviva and Shir that Keith would come home, and I am happy this promise was fulfilled.”
Keith Siegel spoke about the harsh conditions in captivity, how he coped, and about his rehabilitation after returning home.
“From my perspective, the story is not over. While I have returned, you and I are responsible for bringing them all back. We have friends who are still there and it is difficult for me to return knowing that they are still there. I know that you are doing a lot; continue to show courage and leadership,” Keith Siegal stated.
‘I do not intend to give up on anyone’
“I am working constantly for the release of the other hostages. I do not intend to give up on anyone,” Prime Minister Netanyahu responded.
Kieth Siegal, a 65-year-old American-Israeli dual national, was released on February 1. He was abducted from Kfar Aza along with his wife of 44 years, Aviva, on October 7. The pair were driven to Gaza in Keith’s car along with 19 others from their kibbutz.
Keith’s ribs were reportedly broken on October 7, according to the American Jewish Committee.
His wife, Aviva, was released from Hamas captivity in November 2023. She is originally from South Africa.
