Pro-Palestinian group Dark Storm claims they hacked X

Pro-Palestinian cyberhacking group Dark Storm claimed that it hacked X/Twitter on Monday.

This comes after X CEO Elon Musk claimed that the social media platform experienced a massive cyberattack that “was done with a lot of resources,” he wrote. “Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved.”

The social media site was down for several hours for over 40,000 users internationally, according to Downdetector.com.

At 5:40 p.m., the app had approximately 28,570 outage reports, the website found. Some 57% of users reported problems with the app, while 32% reported issues with the website.

Earlier X/Twitter outages

Reuters previously reported that the social media site was down for some 11,000 people, user-submitted data on the outage-tracking website showed.

More than 10,800 users in the UK also reported outages earlier in the day.

X did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
