Trump Admin To Deport Foreigners Who Come To American Universities And Shill For Terrorists

A Syrian-born Palestinian activist and former Columbia University graduate student was arrested on Saturday and will reportedly have his green card revoked because of his involvement in radical left-wing protests supporting Hamas.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, saying Khalil “led activities aligned to Hamas, a designated terrorist organization.” According to his attorney, Khalil is a permanent resident with a green card.

Federal law prohibits providing “material support or resources” to any designated terrorist organizations.

President Donald Trump said his administration would not tolerate any “pro-terrorist” behavior in a Truth Social post.

“This is the first arrest of many to come. We know there are more students at Columbia and other Universities across the Country who have engaged in pro-terrorist, anti-Semitic, anti-American activity, and the Trump administration will not tolerate it,” Trump said. “We will find, apprehend, and deport these terrorist sympathizers from our country — never to return again.”

As reported by the New York Post, “Khalil and Columbia United Apartheid Divest, which has vowed to escalate its tactics ‘until the empire crumbles,’ were among those taking part in the campus takeover at the start of the school year.” Columbia United Apartheid Divest “sympathizes with terror groups like Hamas and Hezbollah,” according to the New York Post.

Khalil also led a protest that sought the “total eradication of Western civilization,” according to the New York Post.

Khalil also told a Post reporter in September that protesters would “continue to resist” and set up encampments and additional protests.

During an April takeover of Columbia University, protesters, including those associated with Columbia University Apartheid Divest, broke into Hamilton Hall.

President Minouche Shafik said the protesters occupying Hamilton Hall broke the doors, damaged and destroyed property, and “mistreat[ed]” public safety officers and maintenance staff.

A statement from the university also said that the “disruptions on campus have created a threatening environment for many of our Jewish students and faculty.”

Khalil was also allegedly caught on camera at the recent protest that took place this month at the Milstein Library at Barnard College, according to the Post. “That protest featured violent propaganda flyers that purportedly came directly from the ‘Hamas Media Office,’ including one pamphlet titled ‘Our Narrative … Operation Al-Aqsa Flood,’ which justified the Oct. 7, 2023 attack,” the Post reported.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a post on X on Sunday that “we will be revoking the visas and/or green cards of Hamas supporters in America so they can be deported.”

Drop Site News reporter Ryan Grim claimed Trump was “disappearing” Khalil. “Have any members of Congress commented on the disappearance by the Trump administration of a legal permanent resident for protesting Israel?”

Reason reporter Billy Binion said in a post on X that “if Mahmoud Khalil actually broke the law, then charge him with a crime. Until that happens, it just looks like this administration … is trying to deport a green card holder for espousing views they dislike. And that’s grotesque.”

Khalil was not arrested for “protesting Israel” or “espousing views” disliked by the Trump administration, however, but rather was detained for allegedly leading “activities aligned” to a terrorist organization. Nor was Khalil “disappeared”; his arrest was made public.

As Jay P. Greene, senior research fellow for The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Education Policy, wrote in Tablet last year, “many foreign students [hold] bigoted views imported from their home cultures,” and these “hateful doctrines foreign to American culture” are later “normalize[d]” by these same students who may go on to “become professors.”

As RedState writer who goes by the name Bonchie on X posted, the founders would have “laughed at” the notion that “it’s a grave violation of rights if you don’t let a foreign national remain in the US to openly promote terrorism.”
