Key Pro-Life Organizations Demand Republicans Repeal Weaponized FACE Act ‘As Soon As Possible’

A coalition of notable pro-life organizations is asking the Republicans who control the House Judiciary Committee to advance legislation repealing the law the Biden administration weaponized to throw peaceful pro-lifers in prison.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, Family Research Council, Students For Life Action, The Thomas More Society, and more advocates against ending life in the womb joined Advancing American Freedom to demand an immediate end to the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.

The signees expressed optimism about President Donald Trump’s “decisive action” to pardon dozens of pro-lifers who were victims of the Biden regime’s lopsided lawfare, but noted that it’s not enough to prevent weaponization from happening again.

“Thankfully, in addition to pardoning the pro-life prisoners, the Trump Administration has taken extensive executive action to prevent the FACE Act from being weaponized against either pro-life or pro-abortion activists for the remainder of his term. For this we are grateful,” the letter states. “However, to prevent any future pro-abortion administrations from weaponizing the FACE Act against pro-life Americans, Congress must repeal the FACE Act in its entirety.”

Until the FACE Act is repealed, the letter warns, pro-lifers’ “efforts to protect the most vulnerable in our society: unborn human beings” are vulnerable to the same “unjust targeting” demonstrated by the previous administration which included “early morning SWAT team raids, unjust prison sentences, and alleged mistreatment while in custody.”

Congress passed the FACE Act in 1994, but it was under President Joe Biden that the FBI and Department of Justice began arresting and sentencing dozens of law-abiding Americans for peacefully protesting abortion.

“Since its creation, 97 percent of all FACE Act cases have been brought against pro-life Americans,” the letter notes.

Under the Biden regime, 55 of the 60 FACE Act cases zeroed in on Americans who prayed, sang, and evangelized at abortion facilities.

“In fact, the first time FACE Act charges were ever brought against a pro-abortion activist was only after Republicans took control of the House of Representatives and opened investigations into the Biden Administration’s political abuses of this unjust law,” the letter states.

Republican Rep. Chip Roy of Texas and 25 Republican cosponsors already introduced the legislation necessary to abolish the FACE Act. All the House Judiciary Committee has to do, the pro-life leaders urged, is mark it up “as soon as possible and pass the bill into law.”
