Trump Education Department Announces 60 More Universities Under Scrutiny Over Antisemitism; State Department to Deploy AI-Powered ‘catch and revoke’ Tools Against Hamas Sympathizers: Report

Trump Education Department announces 60 more universities under scrutiny over antisemitism:

The Department of Education’s civil rights arm warned 60 colleges and universities Monday that they could be next to have federal funding taken away over antisemitic discrimination and harassment on campus.

The five dozen named and shamed included six of the eight Ivy League institutions — Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, Princeton and Yale — and local schools Rutgers, Rutgers-Newark, Sarah Lawrence, three branches of the State University of New York, The New School and Wellesley.

Other prominent Northeastern colleges targeted in the letter were Emerson College in Boston; Lafayette College, Lehigh University, Muhlenberg College and Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania; and Middlebury College in Vermont.

“The Department is deeply disappointed that Jewish students studying on elite U.S. campuses continue to fear for their safety amid the relentless antisemitic eruptions that have severely disrupted campus life for more than a year. University leaders must do better,” Education Secretary Linda McMahon said in a statement.

“U.S. colleges and universities benefit from enormous public investments funded by U.S. taxpayers. That support is a privilege, and it is contingent on scrupulous adherence to federal antidiscrimination laws.”

Monday’s announcement comes three days after the Trump administration’s federal antisemitism task force pulled back $400 million in grants and contracts from Columbia following monthslong Jew-hating demonstrations following the Oct. 7, 2023, attack against Israel by Hamas.

Under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, institutions of higher education are restricted from receiving federal funds if they participate in or allow discrimination based on race, national origin or other characteristics. —>READ MORE HERE

State Department to deploy AI-powered ‘catch and revoke’ tools against Hamas sympathizers: report

The State Department is reportedly embarking on an artificial intelligence-powered initiative to spot foreigners in the US who are sympathetic to Hamas or other terror organizations and revoke their visas.

Using AI tools, officials intend to pore through the social media accounts of foreign student visas and assess whether there’s evidence of sympathies toward Hamas in the wake of the Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack, Axios reported.

That effort, dubbed “Catch and Revoke,” will reportedly encompass a review of news articles to spot names of foreign nationals who engaged in anti-semitic activity.

“Those who support designated terrorist organizations, including Hamas, threaten our national security. The United States has zero tolerance for foreign visitors who support terrorists,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared Thursday.

“Violators of US law — including international students — face visa denial or revocation, and deportation.”

Authorities will also comb government databases to see whether the Biden administration permitted any visa holders who were arrested to remain within the country, per the report.

A State Department official confirmed to The Post that “foreign visitors who support terrorists” could have their visas revoked.

The revelation comes after President Trump declared earlier this week that all federal funds will cease for institutions of higher education that permit “illegal protests.”

“Agitators will be imprisoned/ or permanently sent back to the country from which they came,” he added on Truth Social. “American students will be permanently expelled or, depending on the crime, arrested.”

The State Department’s effort is part of a “whole of government” approach to combating anti-semitism and includes collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security as well as the Justice Department.

“We found literally zero visa revocations during the Biden administration,” one official told Axios, “which suggests a blind-eye attitude toward law enforcement.” —>READ MORE HERE
