The D.C. Swamp’s Bid To Take Out Hegseth Is A Disgrace

It’s become fairly obvious over the past week that there is a highly political campaign to take down Pete Hegseth as America’s defense secretary.

Since the emergence of so-called “Signalgate,” Democrats and media hacktivists alike — many of whom opposed Hegseth’s appointment from the beginning — have orchestrated a seemingly coordinated campaign calling for the Army veteran to lose his post over the incident. From the profanity-laden statement issued by Illinois’ junior senator to the unhinged op-ed authored by man-child David French, the flurry of faux leftist outrage amplified by America’s corporate press has been nothing short of remarkable.

For one, it wasn’t Hegseth who invited media propagandist Jeffrey Goldberg to the administration’s Signal chat. The defense secretary successfully did his job, which was to carry out the president’s ordered strikes on Houthi terrorists in Yemen.

Yet somehow, these disgraced D.C. talking heads want us to believe that Hegseth’s discussion of U.S. foreign policy matters and the time stamps of when the bombs were set to drop without knowing Goldberg was in the chat is a devastating scandal worthy of losing his job over. (It’s not).

But the more laughable aspect of this desperate campaign is that many of the same leftist and establishment cronies demanding Hegseth’s resignation over “national security concerns” never gave a damn about such issues when they mattered.

Over the course of Hegseth’s defense secretary confirmation process, “national security” was not among the leading topics raised by Democrats opposed to his confirmation. In fact, it was barely (if at all) in the conversation.

What Democrats and their media allies did instead was spend months laundering salacious (and anonymous) allegations of wrongdoing to smear Hegseth and tank his nomination. Such tactics were on full display during the defense secretary’s confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee, whose leftist members took turns all but accusing him of being a serial woman-abuser and alcoholic.

Also consider that the biggest Signalgate sensationalists couldn’t be bothered to tell everyone their supposed “national security concerns” when Lloyd Austin went MIA multiple times as Biden’s defense secretary and didn’t inform relevant officials; or when U.S. intel officials were leaking sensitive information to legacy media about closed-door investigations (Russia collusion hoax) into the first Trump administration; or when Hillary Clinton mishandled classified emails; or when Biden oversaw the Afghanistan withdrawal that got 13 service members killed; or when Biden allowed a Chinese spy balloon to float across the country and over U.S. military sites before shooting it down; or when it was revealed that the Biden family had business ties to officials connected to the Chinese Communist Party; or when Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., had a close relationship with a Chinese spy; or when Gen. Mark Milley reportedly told the Chinese government he’d alert them prior to any potential future attacks launched by the Trump administration on Beijing.

The real reason leftists and other establishment hacks are gunning for Hegseth’s resignation has nothing to do with their fake national security concerns and everything to do with the fact that he’s an outsider who represents a threat to the system they’ve spent decades protecting.

Unlike so many of their fellow D.C. insiders, Hegseth is not beholden to the military-industrial complex and defense lobbyists wielding their influence throughout Washington. His only interests are — and always have been — warfighting and the troops.

For the first time in a long time, the armed forces have a defense secretary who cares about the well-being of America’s service members and doing right by them. Look no further than his participation in physical training exercises at U.S. military bases he visits to see that Hegseth genuinely values the importance of engaging with our troops and learning about the issues they’re facing.

That type of dedicated leadership goes a long way in instilling confidence among enlisted and prospective service members that their superiors will have their backs when it matters most. Which is probably why branches like the Army are seeing increased recruitment numbers they haven’t seen in more than a decade.

So, let the D.C. political class wallow in its embarrassingly fake outrage about Signalgate. Pete Hegseth is winning for America’s troops — and at the end of the day, that’s all that really matters.
