IDF shoots three Palestinian rock-throwers, killing one, reportedly a US citizen
A Palestinian teenager with US citizenship was reportedly killed after being shot by an Israeli in the West Bank town of Turmus Aiya, Palestinian officials said on Sunday.
Omar Mohammad Rabea, 14, was shot along with two other teenagers by an Israeli at the entrance to Turmus Aiya, the town’s mayor, Adeeb Lafi, told Reuters.
“Two of them were transported by ambulance to a nearby medical center and then to the hospital. The army arrived at the scene and detained the third injured boy, who is 14 years old and holds US citizenship,” Lafi said. The army is still holding his body, Lafi added.
IDF soldiers “fired at three terrorists who were throwing rocks towards civilians driving on a highway in Turmus Aiya, killing one and hitting the other two,” the military announced on Sunday night, corroborating the report of a killed Palestinian but highlighting a different root cause.
The IDF has not commented on reports that the Palestinian killed is a US citizen at the time of writing.
Where is Turmus Aiya?
Turmus Aiya is located next to Highway 60, near Shiloh, approximately halfway between Ramallah and Nablus.
In 2023, it was the location of a major “price tag” attack in which some 30 homes and over 60 vehicles were destroyed, 12 Palestinians were reportedly injured, and one was killed.
Additionally, in January 2025, a report said dozens of settlers attacked Turmus Aiya amid tensions during the Israel-Hamas War.
