Former Gaza hostages on board during plane collision in Washington, no injuries
Former Gaza hostages Keith and Aviva Siegel were on board one of two American Airlines planes that collided on a taxiway at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) on Thursday.
No injuries were reported.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
The FAA recently announced it would increase support and oversight for the air traffic controller team at DCA, including increasing staffing.
Keith and Aviva Siegel were invited to Washington by President Trump
Keith and Aviva Siegel, as well as Iair Horn, were invited by US President Donald Trump to tell their stories in front of 3,000 guests at the National Republican Congressional Committee on Tuesday.
“I am here, and I am alive. President Trump, you saved my life. You saved the life of 33 hostages because of your efforts,” Keith Siegel said at Tuesday’s event. Each of the former hostages was wearing a yellow scarf.
The three, along with the families of Omer Neutra, Edan Alexander, Gali and Ziv Berman, Itay Chen, and Omri Miran, also met with Vice President JD Vance.
“Today, I met with a group of hostages released by Hamas terrorists, along with the families of hostages still held captive,” Vance wrote on X/Twitter Wednesday. “[US] President [Donald] Trump is committed to reuniting the remaining hostages with their families, something that should have happened long before his return to office.”
