Brian Mast to ‘Post’: ‘Trump prefers diplomacy over bombs’

US Congressman Brian Mast, chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, trusts US President Donald Trump unequivocally, as he stated at the Jerusalem Post conference in New York City on Monday.

“There is no doubt that the Iran deal Trump is planning will include ‘no enrichment,'” he added.

When asked what would happen if Iran refuses to comply, Mast responded: “A military option is something we’ve considered seriously. President Trump prefers to use diplomacy over bombs—that’s the strategy. We aim to resolve this diplomatically, but if a kinetic approach is necessary, it’s not off the table.”

Mast then noted his “unequivocal trust” for the US president, crediting the strike that killed IRGC officer Qasem Soleimani and the withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

“He’s the person who put sanctions on Iran and has put secondary sanctions on those who seek to do business with Iran.”

‘We don’t have time for BS’

The US congressman was then asked about his office’s decision not to use the term “West Bank,” instead using “Judea and Samaria,” referring to the area within Israeli territory.

“We don’t have for BS,” he said, regarding the decision. “To allow the world to falsify history, it puts us in a situation of BS, and we’re not going to be a part of that. We’re looking at the world honestly.”

Mast then spoke about the bias against Israel in the United Nations. “We’re dealing with an institution that is more than happy to take dollars out of our pockets and use it for antisemitic means, whether it’s with their condemnation with Israel over and over again, or UNESCO or UNRWA.”

Mast also addressed the US sanctions on the International Criminal Court for their arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that the choice to implement sanctions was unanimous across Republicans, with very little support from Democrats.
