GOP Budget Would Finally Defund Democrat Mega-Donor Planned Parenthood

On Sunday, the House Budget Committee voted 17-16 to advance President Trump’s “one, big, beautiful bill,” and it achieves a goal social conservatives have had for years: It finally defunds Big Abortion.

No Medicaid dollars “shall be used to make payments to a prohibited entity for items and services furnished during a 10-year period,” the bill states. It defines a prohibited entity as any 501(c)(3) charitable organization that “is primarily engaged in family planning services, reproductive health, and related medical care,” “provides for abortions,” and exceeded $1 million in Medicaid dollars in 2024.

Planned Parenthood, our nation’s largest provider of abortions, released its latest annual report on Monday, May 12. The report shows exactly why this pro-life measure must remain in the final budget reconciliation bill.

In the last two years, Planned Parenthood — an ostensibly “nonprofit organization” — earned a stunning $206 million in profit, its own numbers reveal. Much of that is thanks to hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars flowing into its coffers.

Last year, the organization took in $792.2 million from government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements — over $2 million a day, and approaching half its total revenue. What did the American taxpayer receive for their generous contributions? More abortions. Fewer services. Fewer breast exams and pap tests. And fewer prenatal services.

The number of abortions Planned Parenthood performs continues to increase, reaching a staggering 402,200 last year. Meanwhile, the organizations’ cancer screening and prevention services have dropped by 54 percent since 2013, including declines of 61 percent for breast exams and 54 percent for pap tests.

To reiterate, Planned Parenthood snuffs out the lives of nearly half a million babies annually, depriving them of any chance at life. This is a great moral travesty, and most Americans want nothing to do with it.

According to a Marist poll released earlier this year, 57 percent of Americans, including 54 percent of women, oppose using tax dollars to fund abortion. But every single dollar that flows to Planned Parenthood enables the abortion giant to expand its abortion empire.

Ten years ago, pro-life journalist David Daleiden exposed the ghastly underbelly of Planned Parenthood. In a series of undercover interviews, Daleiden showed the abortion giant’s executives haggling over prices for aborted baby body parts.

Videos exposed Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Medical Directors’ Council President, Dr. Mary Gatter, negotiating over payments for intact “fetal specimens.”

“You know, in negotiations whoever throws out the figure first is at a loss, right? I just don’t want to lowball,” she said. “Let me just figure out what others are getting, and if this is in the ballpark, then it’s fine, if it’s still low, then we can bump it up.”

Then came her unprompted, grisly remark: “I want a Lamborghini.”

She haggles for higher prices for baby organs to pay for her dream car.

After the videos were released, Planned Parenthood played the victim card. The videos were somehow “deceptively edited,” the abortion giant claimed. But they weren’t. They were real.

In fact, after the release of the videos, two companies admitted to illegally selling aborted fetuses from Planned Parenthood in southern California and agreed to a $7.8 million settlement.

The revelations encouraged pro-life supporters, who thought the moment Congress would defund the abortion giant had finally arrived. To our great national shame, Planned Parenthood continued to receive millions of dollars in government cash, including in years Republicans controlled the presidency and both chambers of Congress.

What did Republicans receive in return? Planned Parenthood put up $45 million to elect pro-abortion politicians in 2020, and another $69.5 million in 2024.

Why would any political party readily fund their political opposition year after year? It’s past time for Congressional Republicans to defund Big Abortion.
