The Trump administration announced that it intends to cancel all remaining contracts with Harvard University, continuing to tighten the screws on the left-wing school that apparently feels entitled to American taxpayer money.
In a Tuesday letter to federal agencies, the General Services Administration (GSA) directed that all federal contracts with Harvard and its affiliates be ended as the school “continues to engage in race discrimination, including in its admissions process and in other areas of student life.”
“As fiduciaries to the taxpayer, the government has a duty to ensure that procurement dollars are directed to vendors and contractors who promote and champion principles of nondiscrimination and the national interest,” the letter continues. “We recommend that your agency terminate for convenience each contract that it determines has failed to meet its standards and transition to new vendor those contracts that could be better serviced by an alternative counterparty. Going forward, we also encourage your agency to seek alternative vendors for future services where you had previously considered Harvard.”
“We look forward to assisting you with terminating or transitioning these contracts,” the letter concludes.
GSA noted several issues with Harvard’s general obstinance, refusal to comply with federal civil rights law, and other questionable actions the once-elite school has decided to continue in spite of federal overtures to resolve their problems. All along, the school — boasting the largest endowment in the world at $53.2 billion — has feigned being the victim because it is being taken to task over the insidious activity to which it has been party for years.
The statistical evidence of Harvard’s racial discrimination in their admissions — as revealed in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard — is shocking, to say the least. For applicants in the top academic decile, admissions rates varied significantly by race. In this decile, admissions rates were: 56% for African Americans; 31% for Hispanics; 15% for Whites; 13% for Asians. The Supreme Court, in its decision on the case, rebuked Harvard’s long-standing policy and practice of discriminating on the basis of race. Harvard has shown no indication of reforming their admissions process — to the contrary, Harvard now has to offer a remedial math course, which has been described as “middle school math,” for incoming freshmen. These are the direct results of employing discriminatory factors, instead of merit, in admission decisions.
Though not mentioned in GSA’s letter, Harvard’s recent embarrassments go far beyond its remedial math program. On Tuesday, the school reportedly fired Francesca Gino, a Harvard Business School professor who researches “honesty” and ethics, over fraud allegations.
Harvard had previously placed Gino on leave, and her firing is the culmination of a fight with the school over allegedly falsifying data in multiple studies. She was one of the highest-paid faculty at the school, according to The Harvard Crimson.
Harvard is also home to other alleged instances of data fabrication, including from cancer researchers, and infamously the resignation of disgraced former president Claudine Gay, who stepped down in the wake of a plagiarism scandal after serving the shortest tenure of any Harvard president in history.
Education Secretary Linda McMahon has scrutinized the school — which has maintained grandiose claims of superiority while stumbling into irrelevance — recently telling Harvard that it should no longer seek grant funding, as “none will be provided.” GSA appears to be continuing that work by canceling existing contracts.
Last week, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revoked the school’s ability to enroll foreign students, even telling those currently enrolled that they must either transfer schools or lose their visas.
Harvard has filed lawsuits at nearly every turn, and, in some cases, miraculously ended up with the exact same left-wing judge ready and willing to defend the school counter to the will of the American people who elected President Donald Trump in part to rein in big academia.
Within hours of Harvard’s lawsuit challenging DHS’s actions, U.S. District Judge Allison D. Burroughs, an appointee of former President Barack Obama serving in Massachusetts, blocked them with no explanation. Burroughs is also somehow assigned to another case where the Trump administration froze about $2.2 billion in federal funding.
To make matters worse, Burroughs is the exact same judge who ruled in favor of Harvard’s racialized affirmative action admissions scheme in 2019, a ruling that was eventually overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2023.
The Trump administration appears to be making an example of Harvard to motivate entities in higher education to comply with federal civil rights law and stop foisting upon society extreme views of social structures and institutions. The schools believe they deserve American taxpayer money for their propaganda campaign, despite the fact that many Americans have nothing to do with these institutions and are utterly appalled at their output.
